This vacation was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, accompanied by grown up children and grandchildren. It was the first time we ever rented a vacation home, but I seriously doubt if we could have chosen a better house or more genial host. Most of what I wanted to say has already been said by others, so will add that just taking in the scenery through the glass walls while relaxing comfortably in the upstairs living room of this beautiful plantation style home, or from its lanai, seemed to make all the cares of the world fade away. The house is right on the beach, unlike most others around the bay, which are set back some distance, so we had a grandstand view of the beach and ocean. Just imagine falling to sleep at night and then waking up in the morning to the sound of the crashing surf just feet away from your bedroom window, or slipping down to the beach, morning coffee in hand to enjoy the sunrise, or watching the grandkids play with the boogie boards and other toys in the clear aquamarine ocean water. Life doesn’t get any better! Dan couldn’t do enough for us. He made sure we had all we needed, yet remained completely unobtrusive.

Our family of 4 enjoyed staying here while in Kailua. The best part of the apartment was the location. Walking out the back gate to the right, you are literally steps away from Kailua Beach park. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk to Lanikai Beach, and if you like to hike, it's about a 15 minute walk to the Pillbox trailhead. Just out the gate to the left you'll find a deli/market, shave ice, and kayak rentals. It is located in an upscale neighborhood, and I felt very safe letting my teenagers walk to the beach by themselves. To get to "town" it's a 3-4 minute drive where there are lots of restaurants as well as Whole Foods and Foodland. The apartment looks just like the photos and is clean and well maintained. There is air conditioning in both bedrooms and fans in the main room. Both large beds were really comfortable, and the 5th bed is a blow-up bed. The kitchen had a nice coffee maker and all the utensils needed to cook. We also enjoyed cooking on the clean grill outside. The owners were easy to work with and made us feel very welcome. Tom even offered to let my son borrow his bike when he learned my son was an avid mountain biker. We would definitely return and have already recommended this place to our friends.
