Great Family House

5 of 5
We rolled in right after Labor Day this year because that's when the prices drop! We took the parents and a couple of grown children. This house is absolutely perfect for a family get away where you want privacy. Each of the 3 stories of the house can be completely independent from the other. The location is amazing, right on the water. The windows open up to the ocean. It's really spectacular. There is a private elevator that runs between the 3 floors. At first I was scared to death of it but by the end I was in I back and forth all day! The pics and videos are totally accurate. It's an older house and the configuration is odd but most definitely a great getaway. It's a bit removed from town so you definitely need a car to get anywhere but that's actually nice. Don't swim at the rocky beach in front of the house. My guys ran out there with boogy boards and immediately got their feet cut up. There is a great beach just a few minutes down the road with a lifeguard station and amazing warm blue water. Overall I would absolutely come back. Sterling is very accommodating and quick to respond to any issues. He even shipped my cell phone back to me as I left it on the bed while I was making a mad dash for the airport!

Great condo at a great location

5 of 5
The condo is in a very good condition with all the appliances working perfectly. It is located close to shops and restaurants. There is a rocky beach right under the condo which is used by surfers all day long to enter the ocean in search for waves. It is really pleasant to watch the surfers from the lanai surfing all day long. Kathy was very nice allowing us a late check-out on our last day which was very helpful. At the end of ouf stay we were very happy we rented this condo.

The Perfect Place To Spend Our Vacation

5 of 5
I really can't say enough about this wonderful home or the awesome folks who shared it with us. We've never had an experience like it. From waking up in the morning and having breakfast on the lanai overlooking Kailua Kona, to BBQ in the evening watching gorgeous sunsets. I don't think there's anything I would have changed. The house and all amenities are well thought-out and top quality. The great room opens completely to the phenomenal view (I'm running out of superlatives) and has a full screen to keep out the Island life drawn to the lights at night. The kitchen is well appointed and the beds are a dream to sleep on. The house is a very easy couple minutes drive from the center of everything and perfectly situated overlooking Kona, cooled by the nearly constant gentle breeze which keeps it comfortable even when Kona is sweltering. Jump in the car and within five minutes we were sipping mochas waterside at Island Lava Java and shopping at Jack's Diving Locker. There's a Safeway even closer, and Island Naturals, which caters to those who prefer health foods and organics isn't much further. Our hosts, Sue and Walt were a pleasure to deal with and were nearby, eager to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. They are wonderful folks you'll want as friends the moment you meet them. I always worry when choosing a place to stay on vacation. It's a big decision and you can't know if it will live up to the photos and descriptions. I can tell you, without reservation, this is the best place we've ever stayed. Everyone in my family was thrilled and will always remember this vacation. Thank you, Sue and Walt, for building such a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay, and for sharing it with us. We hope to come stay in the Sunset Hale again. (In fact, I spent some time wondering if there wasn't some way we could just stay there forever.) Not to miss: Island Lava Java - coffee and food are awesome Kona Brewing Company Orchid Thai Cuisine View from Don the Beachcomber bar Snorkeling at Kahalu'u Sitting on the lanai and watching the sunset
