Excellent location!

5 of 5
Had a wonderful time at Banyan Tree! Great location and fantastic view from the lanai! It was easy to get to and had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. The folding coolers and freeze packs from the freezer were a tremendous asset. We also used the boogie boards and beach towels. The keys system worked wonderfully and the sheltered parking spot was always available and a must to have the rental car out of the sun. It was very clean upon our arrival and well kept. The air movement was good throughout the condo. Whether an off shore breeze or on shore the place was always airy. There was a bit of trouble with the wifi at one point so our 15 year old daughter called Kyle and his suggestions corrected the problem ( I was hoping the wifi would stay off - we're in Hawaii look at the views!!!!!) I would definitely recommend this condo to friends and relatives who have 5 or 6 people in their party. There were 5 of us and we were quite comfortable. Watching the surfers and boggie boarders from the lanai was a delight as were the incredible sunsets. We went on a dolphin swim with Captain Zodiac and had the boat to ourselves - an incredible experience! We also did a Manta night snorkel on the Kamanu catamaran through snorkel Bob's ( we rented snorkel gear with them) WOW! The Atlantis submarine was a fantastic voyage as well. "2 step" was my favorite snorkel spot - what a setting! We kayaked to Kealekekua bay and the Captain Cook monument. There was a local man at the bottom of the road who roped us into renting kayaks. It was sketchy but turned out to be a unique experience although you cannot anchor the kayaks so you have to take turns holding them while the others enjoy the fantastic snorkeling. In hindsight I woul splurge and go on a snorkel tour. All the tours supply snorkel gear! Our favorite beach for accessability and size was Manini'owali also known as Kua bay. It is part of Kekaha Kai state park but you turn left past the state park sign toward the hill that looks like a butt. Paved road all the way, restrooms and a fresh water shower. It is quite busy esp. at midday (park at side of road) but a long white sand beach. Grab some poke at the poke shack (you can walk to it) but they sell out a lot by mid afternoon. We had our first Hawaii breakfast at Lava java before getting groceries (KTA) on Palanni St. Buy your made in Hawaii aloha shirts at one of the ABC stores on Ali'i drive. Visit the petroglyphs at Keauhou.
