Great Peaceful Location

4 of 5
This cottage was the perfect location for us to visit our daughter who lives and works in the Kahala area of Oahu. But after arrival we found that it was perfect for more than just its close proximity to our daughter! The Kahala Beach Park is less than a 5 minute walk. There are several public beach access points within a very short walk as well. The Kahala Resort and Spa is a 5 minute drive and we had a lovely Sunday brunch there as well as a beautiful full moon-lit dinner there. The Kahala area is great for launching out for various activities. We hiked up Diamond Head, hiked down to Diamond Head beach, drove to Waikiki for shopping and beach (although I prefer the nearly deserted and peaceful Kahala Beach), drove to the North Shores, and drove to and spent the day snorkeling in Hanauma Bay! There are several restaurants near The Kahala Mall but our favorite is the Olive Tree Cafe which we frequented often for dinner - even walking there one evening! The Cafe is BYOB so don't forget to take your favorite bottle of wine with you when you go! As for the cottage itself, it matched it's description online very well. It is perfect for 2 people; it does have 2 beds but space might be tight for more than 3 people. We had an issue with the solar water heater keeping the water hot, but I contacted the owner and he immediately had someone come fix it and it remained hot the rest of the week. The cottage is part of a larger property in which the main house is also a rental. The main home was being rented at the same time as us but the only time we saw or heard the other renters was when we were parking our car. The cottage is very private. I hope to return and visit our daughter again next year and will rent this cottage again and have recommended it to other family who plan to visit!
