Aptly named Hillside Hideaway, Great retreat from Hustle and Bustle

5 of 5
The house is tucked into the hill about halfway up Tantalus. Just a short ride up the rest of the mountain will lead you to the state park with breath-taking panoramic views of the Manoa valley, Diamond Head, Waikiki, Downtown, all the way to Pearl Harbor. The driveway was narrow and steep at parts, but it was very easy to pull in and turn around rather than backing out to help avoid the blind turns. The house was exactly as described, a cozy two bedroom with plenty of amenities for the week. It was clean and comfortable. We didn't get to use the hot tub as much as we would have liked due to arriving back most nights after 10pm and respecting the "quiet hours" of the neighborhood. Easy access to the H1 highway, which will take you wherever you need to go on the island. Found a great local breakfast and coffee spot reasonably close with friendly baristas (the morning glass) which was also near a Starbucks and Safeway supermarket. Overall we were very happy with our choice, and would gladly stay there again.

Place is well named!

5 of 5
We highly recommend OVH after staying with our family, which consists of 6 adults. The wall of windows and huge lanai, with hot tub, is such a treat as it overlooks the city and ocean. The house is very well equipped and the amenities make living easy and comfortable. The location of the house is marvelous, minutes away from the freeway and downtown Honolulu. Shopping and restaurants are very close. Lara and Glen are gracious hosts/owners and accommodating. P.S They are thoughtful enough to have beach chairs and boards available for your use. • Submitted: Jul 16, 2014

More than we expected!

5 of 5
It was the best vacation we ever had! The house was perfect, everything and more than we expected. The view was awesome! Everything was just minutes away with very easy access but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Lara and Glen went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We wouldn't have changed a thing. WE hope to make this annual vacation but next year stay longer.
