EXCELLENT STAY

5 of 5
Me and my family (7 people from 70+ year old parents to 6 and 8 year old kids) loved the place. They all raved about it the whole time. There were a few minor issues which I discussed with the owner, but nothing that ruined the stay. Having such a huge living room and kitchen were very convenient for our family. My mom (who doesn't walk very well) didn't have any problem with this property which was great. I had a few conversations with Marcy and she was great to work with. You can tell she really cares about the place and wants you to have a nice stay. We have stayed at a few places, but she had the most interest by far in our stay. We had a great time. It was a beautiful house in a great location. Highly recommended.

BEAUTY & LOCATION CAN'T BE BEAT

5 of 5
The photos are nice, but the house is even better! Our family of 5 arrived on a sunny afternoon (arrive in the daylight, because it gets dark here). The location is so convenient (walking distance) to downtown Hilo, yet it feels like you are miles away. The drive through the neighborhood is lovely with the one lane bridge, lush foliage and orchids and tropical flowers everywhere. Once inside the house, our kids were excited trying to determine which room to choose. Each room has its own bathroom and is beautifully decorated in a Japanese motif. The bedding is luxurious and the beds were very comfortable. I slept well once I got accustomed to the jungle sounds (rain and chirping coqui frogs). The owners have decorated the home with wonderful details and provided many conveniences: beach shoes (some beaches are rocky), beach towels, guide books, even a welcome basket with coffee and goodies. We enjoyed visiting the property's waterfall, but be sure to wear bug repellant. I loved walking around the neighborhood admiring the flora and fauna and met some very friendly neighbors who shared Hilo history. We discovered a few local restaurants worth mentioning: Tina's Garden Gourmet Café (amazing Thai food with lots of organic veggies), Moonstruck Patisserie (the best croissants outside of Paris) and Pineapples (delicious fish & chips and great live music -- make a reservation). Many local attractions are nearby: several waterfalls, Banyan Drive, Coconut Island, snorkeling with turtles. This home is a gem!

INCREDIBLE HOUSE IN A GORGEOUS SETTING!

5 of 5
We had such a great time at this house. The house itself is upgraded, spacious, and clean. We spent a lot of time hanging out in the covered/screened patio where it felt like we were sitting out in a tropical jungle. The setting for the hot tub was one of the best we've ever experienced. The location of this house is also great as there are some really beautiful walks directly from the house including the Donkey Trail down to Onomea Bay past giant mango trees, banana plants, lilkoi and coconut. We liked that it was close enough to Hilo (about 10 minutes drive), but also close to other sites like Akaka Falls, Botanical Gardens, and Umaumau Falls. The caretaker Ron was super helpful and friendly and helped us find a few places. If you like the tropical jungle setting I would highly recommend this house as it feels like you're in the middle of a rainforest.
