Did the trick for our large group

4 of 5
We stayed here over Christmas 2014 with 12 people ranging from the go-goer's that needed to be doing some sort of planned excursion each day, to first timers, a brand new baby, teens and couples. So we had a lot of opinions to deal with....but at the end of the day the house worked for us. It is fairly clean, had good wifi and entertainment options for the quiet evenings, although it could desperately use a coat of paint on the inside and some general handyman love around the house to really bring it up to the 5K+ a week level... the bedrooms were fine and space was plenty for us including in the kitchen - our only suggestion here would be to get a set of decent knives as well as pots and pans in there, especially when someone renting a huge house like this will be needing ample kitchen supplies to cook for what could be upwards of 18 people! ... but again, we made due just fine. We were split on the location of the property.... some liking the out of the way feel, others thinking it was just too far, it really depends on what you are looking for, this place is realistically with traffic (which was crazy over the holiday!) about just over an hour drive from Waikiki beach, 20 minutes up to the bonzai pipeline and about 30 minutes from Kanoeh... doesn't seem like much, but time in the car does add up fast! Personally, I thought that the location was good, there are grocery stores right up the road, delicious food trucks all within a less than 10 minute drive... the water on this east side of the island actually has a lovely sandy bottom (unlike rocky Waikiki) and was that extra shade of turquoise that everyone searches for on holidays.... oh an no fighting for space on the beach. Should you want a sunset, you can zip up to the western tip in like 15 minutes... but if your looking for a pub to grab a drink at in the evenings.. this is not the house for you. The owner was a genuine treat to deal with, his business is literally just next door to grab souvenirs etc...

Had a wonderful week's stay here with our 3 college age children. The owners are a very friendly family, we had all supplies we needed provided. Perfect location, near to so many great North Shore activities and loved trying the different food trucks for our meals. We spent a lot of time watching the surf contest, stand up paddle boarding and getting shave ice, also the Loop Trail near the house was a great hike.

Two couples stayed at this property in May 2014 for one week. Communication with the owner, booking and payment went smoothly with no issues. The location is near the Polynesian Cultural Center, about an hour from the airport. We really liked this area as it’s close to the North Shore and away from the busy downtown area. It is also close to a couple of grocery stores. There is noise from the traffic that you can hear from the bedroom closest to the street however, there are many houses that are close to the main road so I don’t think this is a negative. The house itself is in good shape and has a warm cottage feel. The kitchen, dining and living area is open concept and very large with two sliding doors to the backyard and another off the main bedroom. The kitchen had everything we needed and also having a washer and dryer was very convenient. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms but rarely used them as the ocean breeze was cool enough. The morning sunrises are amazing and it was nice to take a walk on the beach without having to drive to one. For sites, we recommend Waimea Bay for swimming (bring an umbrella) and the botanical gardens across the street, the North Shore for food trucks, Pupukea (Sharks’s Cove) for snorkeling. We also recommend Kualoa Ranch for the Jungle Expedition and Movie site tour but not the Legend and Legacy tour or the ATV’s (if you own one or have been on them before as you might find it boring and very hot). Overall, we liked this property for it’s quiet, beachfront, central location away from Honolulu and would recommend it to others who are looking for a relaxing vacation and like a cottage/beach town feel.
