What a delightful vacation

5 of 5
I feel so fortunate to have been able to stay at this gorgeous, well equipped property on the North shore. Your home is beautiful and has all of the personal touches to make you feel like you're at your own home, but, in paradise. We were lucky to have all of the amenities that you have provided. We loved the location, close to great beaches, and hiking that was exactly what we wanted. The Kaua'i information binder really goes above and beyond and helped us make our trip so special. We felt very safe in the bamboo hideaway, it was so peaceful that two of us did not even hear the roosters calls half way through the trip. I wish I never had to leave, and hope to be able to return to your home again. Mahalo!

Just as advertised

5 of 5
We are in the 6th day of our week-long stay at Makana Akua and it is exactly like the advertisement: Nice house, nice furnishings, nice kitchen, nice backyard, beautiful views from the back porch and a spectacular location on the beach. The only downside is the ocean is quite treacherous here. I tried to go boogie boarding here today and a neighbor stopped me. He said he had been living here for 38 years, that he used to be a lifeguard, that he has had to pull three people out of the ocean here and one of them drowned. With that as a warning, I played in the shore break, but even that was pretty strong. Of course, this is winter surf, so maybe the summer surf is more benign. In any case, Hanalei Bay is just 15 minutes away and it has safe surf. Hanalei Bay, by the way, is a very nice Old Hawaiian town full of good places to eat and drink and the friendliest people I've met in a long while. Postcards and Baracuda topped our list of favorites, but don't forget to catch the sunset and a drink from the porch at the St. Regis in Princeville. And Limahuli Gardens, just 3 minutes up the road is worth an hour's walk. This is Mellow Country, so if you come here, get ready to chill. If you can't chill, stay in Poipu. We'll be back.

Comfortable and Close

5 of 5
This house was clean, private, and surprisingly quiet since it's near the main road. I knew it was an older house, but we were all pleasantly surprised with the size and location. The beds were comfortable and this is important to me. The location is within walking distance to the beach and town. I would definitely recommend the place for groups and families. The owners were helpful with their suggestions(we thought the hurricane might come) and easy to communicate with.
