Perfect Getaway

5 of 5
Ditto to all the glowing reviews. We found Maria and her cottage to be delightful glowing stars in our getaway week! She directed us to the best Thai food ever, beautiful hikes and beaches and amazing, really amazing lemon bars and coconut ice cream at Glen's (try chocolate chili if you like a kick!) She has everything you need- first aid kit, cottonballs, safety pins, travel brochures, satellite TV, ........somewhere in the cottage. Pipwai Trail to the falls was awesome, and the Red Sand Beach was worth finding- not dangerous as touted if you have common sense and are careful. Thanks Maria!

Truly the highlight of our time in Maui

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed for two nights as part of a week long trip to Maui. The pictures we viewed online looked great but given the price we were skeptical how nice the house could actually be (costs a fraction of one room Wailea resort). When we arrived at the house on the evening of Jan. 3rd we were completely blown away by the quality of the materials used in the house, everything was top notch. If the house itself wasn't enough we found a basket of fresh fruit from the property awaiting our arrival. As we explored the house we were happy to find that everything we could possibly need was already stocked in the house (i.e. laundry soap, dishwasher soap, trash bags, even a huge spice cabinet full or seasonings). Needless to say, when we woke up the next day and walked around the property we were again surprised by how beautiful the grounds were. In addition to the countless bowling ball size avocados and other various fruits and veggies, there were a large variety of different plants and flowers. it was absolutely beautiful. A few additional notes to end on... If you plan to stay at this house make sure to find Thai by Pranee (in Hana) and the clay oven pizza stand, both were very good. Other than that I would recommend stopping at Mana Foods in Paia before you drive out, there are very few grocery options when you arrive. Also, make sure that you visit the Seven Sacred Pools, it is the last stop on the road to Hana and is one of the most amazing things we've every seen. Lastly, I do have one small word of caution... if you are bothered by spiders or small lizards be prepared. There were quite a few spiders around the property and the lanai as well as a very small gecko in the kitchen. This is the price you pay for having true peace and quite out in Hana but it is very much worth it. Thank you to Helene for all your hospitality and providing such a great alternative to the over crowded beaches of Wailea.
