Breezy and delightful!

5 of 5
The price, the location and the space was perfect for my son and I on this last trip to Maui. We were able to cook meals when we wanted and felt comfortable with the drive to the beach and restaurants and anyplace else on the island!~ We had privacy and it was quiet for the most part. You could smell the flowers coming in with the breeze and there are lilikoi in the back. It does get hot up top, but when you open the windows the breeze fills the room and cools everything down. Our hosts were great and I couldn't be happier with the trip! Mahalo!!

Perfect summer at Holly’s Haiku Cottage

5 of 5
It was our 2nd time at the North Shore and we love Haiku as a base to explore this beautiful island. This house was perfect for us and we enjoyed it so much. It felt like we were living on Maui. Holly’s cottage offers everything you need and a lot more. It was spacious, very clean and very well equipped with everything (linen, towels, cooler, kitchen utilities, washing machine, dryer). It has a cute hidden parking space, a nice garden with a lot of fruits. The huge lanai was great to rest, having a barbeque and enjoying this beautiful ocean view. We also loved those day beds, where we enjoyed resting after a long day at the beach. The bed was very comfortable, we had a deep sleep and the neighborhood was very quiet there at least during our stay in Haiku. The traffic at the main road did not bother us at all. Since we also came for some windsurfing fun on the island, we were thankful for the storage space under the house. Holly did a great job decorating the house with all those little tasteful tropical details. It looks even better than on the picture. Holly was a great landlord, she even let us check in a day later since we had a cancelled flight at SFO and a layover there. The house is close (5 min walk) to Haiku grocery store, some restaurants and post office. You have a very short drive to Ho’okipa and Paia. It’s so close to the Road of Hana where you start your exploring trips either way. We loved it there and would love to come back as soon as possible. Maholo for everything to Holly.

Great Vacation Rental - but may not be for everyone

5 of 5
I personally loved this Vacation Rental Property. We had 5 adults stay and 2 kids and 1 infant, and the space provided worked out very well in our case. The couple (my husband and I) had a private bedroom with a door (next to the yoga room and with its own very large bathroom). Our mothers each took a bedroom upstairs. It's important to know that each of these rooms has an "open window", no glass, to the vaulted ceiling over the dining room, so there is really no "privacy" for these guests in those rooms if they happen to snore or make noise at night...if you get my meaning. Worked well for us in our circumstance, though. Each of our kids slept with each of the grandma's in these rooms. One adult and the infant slept in the living room on an inflatable mattress, it has a sliding door for limited privacy, but is not noise proof to the rest of the house. The kitchen is big enough for this size of group. I see the comments from 02/13 that the dishwasher wasn't working well...by the time we got there it was not working at all. So I hope she manages to get it fixed, I know Sylvia called but no one was available to fix it during our stay. It is NOT CLEAR from the photos that you have to park at the end of the steep driveway, and then walk down 36 stairs to the house - this was a surprise to me. Like I said, it's OK for fit people, but it was hard on my mom's bad knee. I left Sylvia an email suggesting a few more amenities be added to the kitchen - oven mitts, salad tongs and some mixing bowls or salad bowls. Hopefully those things are added. I also had no cell coverage until I drove to the grocery store in Haiku, but that might be different depending on your provider. It was SO peaceful, the view is amazing, internet worked, it was clean and stylish, outdoor shower to wash sand off surfboards etc was very useful. I would recommend this place highly, but for fit people, and understanding that those two upper rooms are not soundproof.
