Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay at this unique home on Kauai, built high on stilts (as most of the homes are, to avoid flooding) and surrounded by lush palm trees and other tropical foliage and flowering trees. The location on the North Shore was ideal for us; after staying at a Maui resort prior we loved the peaceful beauty and more serene nature of Kauai. Proximity to the beach was key for us, and it is a short walk across the street and down a sandy beach path to access one of the best beaches on the island. The house provided beach toys, 2 sets of snorkel equipment, boogie boards for the kids which was welcome! The house is spacious with a nice kitchen, 3 great BR's and a large daybed in the living room which we used for our 3rd child. The view of the mountains is lovely. We originally wanted to rent beach-front but couldn't find anything available; in retrospect living in the "jungle" for a week was a nice contrast and change of scenery to the ocean since we spent so much time at the beach. Like many homes there is no A/C and it gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but all the rooms have fans and they help greatly. The nights cool down and are comfortable, although you must run the fans loudly or risk being awakened by the crowing roosters at 5am (which are all over the island). The property manager was wonderful and helpful, and the owner was extremely professional to work with. I highly recommend this rental if you are not looking for the "resort" experience and want a peaceful, unique base from which to explore Kauai. One of the highlights for us was a hike to the Hanakapai falls, which is accessed about 1 mile from the house, and we also loved the Holo Holo boat tour/snorkel trip of the Napali Coast. The scenery is just breathtaking.
