Beautiful Beach Bungalow

5 of 5
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! Our stay at the Beachcomber house bungalow was felt like an absolute dream and we hope to return soon! First, the location is couldn’t be better. The quiet neighborhood felt very private and cozy. It did not feel like a hotel vacation, but a home away from home. The house was gorgeous and had a lot of character! The high ceilings, skylights, and screened windows allowed us to experience the outdoors while in the comfort of our kauai home. It was only 2 of us on this trip, but overall the house is very spacious. I could comfortably vacation here with a larger group! Maybe next time  The best part was having the beach just a few steps away. This made it really convenient to go have a short walk on the beach, or go there and stay the whole day. We loved to wake up every morning and make coffee and watch the sunrise, and then head out for activities. The house is prepared for beach goers with several beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards. The beach was also never crowded. It was great for reading a book, fishing, or snorkeling! There is also a vacation rental property just a street away. Here there is a restaurant and coffee shop if you are interested in either. The kitchen was also wonderful! It had all the amenities and we cooked several meals during our week long stay! There is also a charcoal grill outside, and a patio to sit and relax after a day of outings or for a home cooked meal. While the house is somewhat remote, Hanalei was only 10 minutes away. We would go there daily for activities, shopping, and restaurants, but always loved returning to our quiet neighborhood in Haena. Also, the Kalalau trail, a beautiful hike, with incredible views of the coast is just a few miles up the road! I could go on and on.. but ultimately, this was the best vacation, and our stay was perfect. Thank you again! We were very sad to leave, but we will definitely be back.

We are in the 6th day of our week-long stay at Makana Akua and it is exactly like the advertisement: Nice house, nice furnishings, nice kitchen, nice backyard, beautiful views from the back porch and a spectacular location on the beach. The only downside is the ocean is quite treacherous here. I tried to go boogie boarding here today and a neighbor stopped me. He said he had been living here for 38 years, that he used to be a lifeguard, that he has had to pull three people out of the ocean here and one of them drowned. With that as a warning, I played in the shore break, but even that was pretty strong. Of course, this is winter surf, so maybe the summer surf is more benign. In any case, Hanalei Bay is just 15 minutes away and it has safe surf. Hanalei Bay, by the way, is a very nice Old Hawaiian town full of good places to eat and drink and the friendliest people I've met in a long while. Postcards and Baracuda topped our list of favorites, but don't forget to catch the s

Beautiful Home - Close to the Beach

5 of 5
We just spent our last 5 days at this lovely home and truly enjoyed ourselves. The beds were extremely comfortable, the sheets and linens were quality and there was tons of space! The windows were fabulous as the breeze did not require us to need any fans for it being too warm. The kitchen was full of every gadget for cooking too. There are two things that we didn't fully realize from the description although we simply didn't look at the photos well enough - only the bathroom has it's own ceiling (and so do the bedrooms downstairs) but in the main living area, kitchen and master bedroom, it is as if it were one big room. It worked well with our family but it did make it difficult to do anything in another area while the others were sleeping. Also, we did not realize how remote the north shore areas are - we thought the home was in Hanalei and figured it was on the Bay but I would say it is closer to Haena. That said, the location to the ocean was fabulous and we were excited to learn great snorkeling was right outside our door. The winter waves prevented us from snorkeling but it didn't prevent us from really enjoying the power and beauty of the ocean. The management staff were wonderful to work with as well. We would definitely stay again!
