Ewa Beach Cottage September 2014

4 of 5
Property owner: Terrific guy, always open to suggestions, and easing going & handles situations very well. Stay 1 week: We had a party of four adults (we are "Kamaina's") islander's visiting home, and it is a beautiful "Hale" (home) place, landscape beautiful (a lot of TLC of this property), and very welcoming "E komo mai" at first sight of a gated entry. Parking of at least two vehicles a plus not necessary, gated entry a plus, beach right around the corner of owners main home a plus. The outside patio was simply wonderful if you wanted to BBQ and eat outside and invite a guest or family to join you for a beautiful evening. Since it was extremely hot & muggy with no trade winds blowing AC is a definite plus, kitchen terrific, the flow of the living room was terrific, ceiling fans a plus to keep the air circulating in extreme heat. The dining room nook beautiful, but their is room for improvement there. It catches the morning HOT sun which in extreme weather you cannot utilize the space. However if during beautiful weather with the trade winds blowing you open the windows throughout the cottage it would be very comfortable. Had one TV in living room area, was perfect, in my opinion . . . no need for another TV upstairs. Your on vocation! Its an excellent place to stay and would highly recommend to others who just want to chill and check out other beaches on the Leeward side of Oahu, away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki. We went sand crabbing on the beach with keiki's at night, pole fished early morning or night fishing (you have to bring your own). Mahalo Mike

Quality experience

Great property in a fantastic location. We were looking for the beach and we found it. There are great views of the city and the beach is truly accessible! The owners are friendly and helpful, and the house seems to be theirs most of the time. I would recommend this house to anyone, but especially to families looking for a nice house on the beach 30 minutes from downtown. If you are looking for tourists, this is not the place to stay. If you are looking for a real beach house, then this would be the place.

HAWAIIAN LULLABY (PETER MOON BAND)

5 of 5
You know it's been a week since leaving our island home of Hawaii and it took me some time to decide what to say in my review. I, myself hadn’t been home in 7 years. My keikis and I wanted to take a kick back do nothing vacation and I wanted somewhere on the dry side of Oahu. Well, Ewa Beach it was, this Ewa Beach home was the old local style that we grew up in the Moanalua Gardens area. All the childhood memories came back to us the minute we drove down the street, open the gate and walked into the house. Our eyes were filled with happiness. The geckos, mynah birds, waves crashing to the beach, the humidity, the sunrise and sunset, the view of the Honolulu city lights, the ono local food and the local people – all brought memories of growing up in a one of kind place. Prior to making the trip home, I had been talking to Darla and her warm aloha voice was so nice to hear and she was very helpful as well. Also, I briefly talked to Connie and her welcoming voice made the drive to the Ewa beach house so much enjoyable. We felt the warm ohana feeling. The house was the typical single wall (wooden) type and wooden floors were nice to walk on with no carpet. This house has a lot of room to move around and the view from the lanai, speechless. We left windows open and waking up in the morning to hear birds singing, wave crashing and the trade winds blowing was so comforting and nice to even fall asleep too. The available beach furniture, beach gear and even the old cooler to wash your sandy feet in was, so Akamai. The house had everything you needed – it was kind of like a home away from home. Oh by the way, on our second morning a Hawaiian monk seal came ashore and slept awhile and eventually woke up and swam away. Now, for those of you that aren’t aware, it is illegal to touch a Hawaiian monk seal or a Hawaiian sea turtle. We stayed for 9 days and my keikis want to come back to this Ewa Beach house. So, plans are currently in the works to stay longer next time. I wanted give a big ALOHA to, Connie and Rachel for allowing us to visit / stay in their wonderful island home (maybe I will buy it – someday and move back home). Also, another big ALOHA to, Darla for talking story with me and suggesting “Pearl’s Korean BBQ” so ono. ALOHA & MAHALO
