Can't Wait to Return!

5 of 5
I don't even know where to begin. Before our arrival Christine already exuded a warm and welcoming personality by responding to my emails and answering all of my questions! On the day of arrival, we were welcomed by John and Christine to an immaculately clean part of their home, a cool breeze, Hilo rain, and a view too beautiful to describe. After introductions to their four-legged family members, we retreated into our rental and immediately knew we'd be back again. Christine was very helpful with suggesting super markets, places to park for the huge event in town, what time to leave, etc. They were very accomodating with leaving the generator on for a quick shower when we returned from our explorations of the Big Island. We truly only had one full day to sight-see as the main reason for our trip was for the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival. However, we were able to accomplish much in one day - Akaka Falls, Tex's malasadas, the beauty of Waimea, an awesome wooden playground, a lava tube. the Space Museum at the Kona airport, petroglyphs, a dip in the ocean, the sunset, ono local grinds at the Kona Bowling Alley, and amazing star-gazing from Saddle Road! We were blessed to have found John and Christine and look forward to a longer stay next time so we can explore their property!

Wonderful place !

5 of 5
We stayed at Nanette's Place for three nights, last November. It's beautiful, big and cozy, we felt at home. Nanette is very welcoming, the hibiscus room has all facilities to cook, a balcony and we can make our laundry. It's 10 minutes drive to Kona. Wonderful stay, many thanks !

Had a very nice time!

5 of 5
This is a great studio room for a single or couple. I had a very enjoyable stay and Christine was very sweet and made me feel very welcome. The dogs and cat were also very friendly! You also get a nice ocean overview from the generous number of windows. You are only a few minutes from downtown Hilo and the Botanical gardens are pretty much right on the other side of the highway. Akaka falls is not far away either. This room is in a portion of the main house, and it was nice and quiet, 3 miles off the highway up at the end of a drive. I got the impression that the room is a labor of love in progress...there are some incomplete portions (like the concrete floor, which I assume will get finished soon), but most of the work is finished nicely. You can currently do a little cooking in the room if you want, however the planned outdoor kitchen should be very nice when it is finished. (I felt right at home anyway--I've got projects going on at home too!) I hope to visit again once the work is complete!
