Beautiful Beach House

5 of 5
This house was perfect for our family vacation for 8 adults. It was gorgeous and comfortable and an awesome get away. The house came with everything one could possibly need - bikes, snorkel equipment, beach toys etc. The kitchen was fully equipped to make wonderful homemade meals. The living room was very comfortable and came with a nice tv with netflix that was a great way to wind down after a busy day on the island. The pool was wonderful way to cool off and the pool table in the birds nest was a lot of fun. Great location - close to everything! The owners and property manager were fantastic. Very reachable and able to give really good recommendations on what to do and where to eat. They kept in touch and kept us up to date on everything (which was especially helpful and calming when we heard the hurricane was approaching) I would definitely recommend this house to anybody looking for a rental in Kona.

The Perfect Place To Spend Our Vacation

5 of 5
I really can't say enough about this wonderful home or the awesome folks who shared it with us. We've never had an experience like it. From waking up in the morning and having breakfast on the lanai overlooking Kailua Kona, to BBQ in the evening watching gorgeous sunsets. I don't think there's anything I would have changed. The house and all amenities are well thought-out and top quality. The great room opens completely to the phenomenal view (I'm running out of superlatives) and has a full screen to keep out the Island life drawn to the lights at night. The kitchen is well appointed and the beds are a dream to sleep on. The house is a very easy couple minutes drive from the center of everything and perfectly situated overlooking Kona, cooled by the nearly constant gentle breeze which keeps it comfortable even when Kona is sweltering. Jump in the car and within five minutes we were sipping mochas waterside at Island Lava Java and shopping at Jack's Diving Locker. There's a Safeway even closer, and Island Naturals, which caters to those who prefer health foods and organics isn't much further. Our hosts, Sue and Walt were a pleasure to deal with and were nearby, eager to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. They are wonderful folks you'll want as friends the moment you meet them. I always worry when choosing a place to stay on vacation. It's a big decision and you can't know if it will live up to the photos and descriptions. I can tell you, without reservation, this is the best place we've ever stayed. Everyone in my family was thrilled and will always remember this vacation. Thank you, Sue and Walt, for building such a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay, and for sharing it with us. We hope to come stay in the Sunset Hale again. (In fact, I spent some time wondering if there wasn't some way we could just stay there forever.) Not to miss: Island Lava Java - coffee and food are awesome Kona Brewing Company Orchid Thai Cuisine View from Don the Beachcomber bar Snorkeling at Kahalu'u Sitting on the lanai and watching the sunset

Simply wonderful!

5 of 5
From the moment we inquired about this house to the day we received our deposit back, Jon and Jackie are by far the BEST owner we've ever come across in our 7 years of renting from VRBO. We truly felt that they really do want you to have a wonderful and memorable vacation in their Kona home and that is exactly what we did for 10 days. We stayed in their home August 12-21, 2014 right after the hurricanes passed by and I believe that it was a little bit more hot and humid than usual because of that. Having the portable fans going and the having the windows and doors open helped a lot as there is no central A/C available. The pool was a bit too cold for me but my husband and kids enjoyed it. Everything about this house is even more beautiful in person compared to the pictures posted on the website. Everything that you can possibly need is available in their home. It is very spacious that the bedroom with the two beds downstairs was left untouched :)). Our most favorite spot was the Lanai, of course! Who wouldn't with that view....We enjoyed our morning walks and felt very safe in this friendly and quiet neighborhood and what a workout that was. Thank you, Jon and Jackie for making your home available for us. We truly enjoyed our stay in the Big Island.
