A spectacular family vacation getaway...

5 of 5
I want to give sincere thanks to Walter and Susan for providing this impressive home. As we left, I could not help but already fast forward to thoughts of returning. I am positive that our return will revolve around an opening at this hale. Hawaii was amazing, but the thoughts that stand out are BBQs on the Lanai, family dinners prepared in the kitchen, game time at the dining table, laughter in the pool and remarkably all which were accompanied by stunning views of the coast. It was a continual conflict of playing tourist and fighting a desire to rush home to a secluded, relaxing time at our retreat. We loved every minute of both. For those considering. The home is spectacular and provides a wonderful vacation atmosphere. It is clean, modern, comfortable and vacation functional. Lounging on the patio, overlooking your children, overlooking the pool, overlooking Kona, overlooking the Pacific...simply ideal. The amenities were fantastic. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. It was always a pleasant cap to the day crawling into bed and starring out into the moon glow over the ocean. The bathrooms provided plenty of freedom and ease for a family of six to concurrently prepare for the day. The kitchen left nothing to desire. The appliances were modern and pleasure to have access to. We took full advantage of the beach gear…boogie boards, chairs, towels, umbrellas and more. It made our day trips to the beach effortless. This I write with a smile…trips to the beach specifically out of town and with children is often a frightening task. This is a wonderful getaway for those looking to enjoy the island and family time simultaneously.

Beautiful property and grounds

4 of 5
As stated by others this property is stunning and the attention to detail is outstanding. Though I agree with most points raised in the other reviews I can't believe no one has mentioned the traffic noise. Each morning about 6 am you can hear traffic going by, even with the windows closed it still wakes you up. However if the traffic noise in the morning and early evening doesn't bother you then I can't say anything other than you will love this property. Hilo is not great to visit, but this might have been down to the road works taking place around the town. Good supermarkets and make sure you get a Safeway card as it does provide good savings.

4 days in Paradise

5 of 5
Stayed at this incredible place for 4 days with my 74 year old parents, my wife, sister and brother-in-law and their 2 kids, ages 11 and 9. The kids were asleep when they came in at night, but it was worth it just to see the looks on their faces in the morning when the sun came up and they looked out the window...precious! In fact, we all carried the same look on our faces as we walked from room to room enjoying the design, the layout, the construction which all works together to help you derive maximum enjoyment of the surroundings. On a private road with lots of houses - once you pass through the gates at the falls you are isolated from the rest of the world as the rain forest engulfs you. It's so loud at night! The waterfall sounds like rainstorm and the birds at night...! It turns out there are no birds at night! Those are frogs pretending to be birds! My wife needs silence to sleep at night, but she slept like a baby here. These are the sounds that we are meant to hear as we sleep. Jack and Jane - thank you so much for sharing your private paradise with us! If I owned such a house I would have a hard time renting it out to strangers....so thank you for this wonderful gift!
