What an amazing place

5 of 5
Words and photos cannot adequately describe how amazing this place is. When you are in this cottage, you feel as if you are completely surrounded by forest, but it's actually just a few minutes' drive from highway 11 so transportation is easy. Even though it's in a subdivision with plenty of other homes, you can leave all the blinds open to soak in all the greenery and yet still have complete privacy. The cottage is perfectly maintained (I loved the feel of the perfectly clean and fluffy carpet on my feet), and as you walk around the cottage to see what's available, you realize that the owners truly thought of everything. It's so peaceful in here, I could spend a couple of days just sitting in the cottage. But of course the real reason why you're here is Volcanoes National Park, which is just a few minutes away. No matter if it's in this cottage or at another place, do yourself a favor and stay in the area at least a couple of days (we stayed 4 nights), I don't understand how people can drive from Kona and spend only half a day here, there is so much to see on the east side of the island and it seems a shame to have to rush through it. If there are only two of you traveling, I can't imagine a better place to stay than here while exploring the east side of the island.

Charming Volcano cottage!

5 of 5
One of the best things about this cottage is the owner Matt who is terrific at responding to questions and sent lots of valuable information about the cottage and the Volcano area in general. The cottage is extremely comfortable and has tons of charm and we especially enjoyed the fireplace and the large picture windows looking out into the rain forest! I enjoyed some of the best sleep I've had in a long time as his cottage is extremely peaceful and quiet.

Quiet, lovely cottage in the town of Hawi

5 of 5
This cottage is quite clean and well furnished. It has lovely woodwork and cabinetry. The kitchen is well equipped. The hosts are welcoming and tell great stories about long sea voyages. We spent most of our time on the large and comfortable lanai. There we met the local geckos and the flock of turkeys that wander by. Hawi is a quiet town with a nice coffee shop, restaurants, and shops. Down the road a couple miles is a grocery store and there is a Farmer's Market on Saturday. Good snorkeling beaches are not far away.
