EXCELLENT STAY

5 of 5
Me and my family (7 people from 70+ year old parents to 6 and 8 year old kids) loved the place. They all raved about it the whole time. There were a few minor issues which I discussed with the owner, but nothing that ruined the stay. Having such a huge living room and kitchen were very convenient for our family. My mom (who doesn't walk very well) didn't have any problem with this property which was great. I had a few conversations with Marcy and she was great to work with. You can tell she really cares about the place and wants you to have a nice stay. We have stayed at a few places, but she had the most interest by far in our stay. We had a great time. It was a beautiful house in a great location. Highly recommended.

ALL ALOHA AND MORE

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here for a week in April, and will return! The long time Hawi residents and owners, Jennifer and Jeff, have created a little piece of paradise for all those lucky enough to discover it's secrets. The cottage has everything you wish for in a secluded setting...comfy, cozy, clean, perfectly stocked, with cool breezes and lush tropical plantings that have developed over time with care by Jennifer's green thumb. Ask for a tour of the gardens and be amazed. The two owner artisans, Jeff a local contractor, artist and designer with his skilled hands, and lovely Jennifer with her gardening skills and extraordinary cut glass designs which decorate the cottage are both a treasure. The outdoor shower in rain or shine became a favorite ritual. Much appreciated were the basket of tropical fruit and local Kona coffee upon arrival. Ask them for a history of the main house, which originally was a church that they had moved onto the site, and subsequently remodeled into a beautiful island home with very special touches. A quick drive into quaint Hawi town beckons with shops and restaurants choices for all. If you want that special stay, quiet in the real Hawaii spirit, and to create some memories of your Hawaiian vacation, try this special discovery and you won't be disappointed.

BEAUTY & LOCATION CAN'T BE BEAT

5 of 5
The photos are nice, but the house is even better! Our family of 5 arrived on a sunny afternoon (arrive in the daylight, because it gets dark here). The location is so convenient (walking distance) to downtown Hilo, yet it feels like you are miles away. The drive through the neighborhood is lovely with the one lane bridge, lush foliage and orchids and tropical flowers everywhere. Once inside the house, our kids were excited trying to determine which room to choose. Each room has its own bathroom and is beautifully decorated in a Japanese motif. The bedding is luxurious and the beds were very comfortable. I slept well once I got accustomed to the jungle sounds (rain and chirping coqui frogs). The owners have decorated the home with wonderful details and provided many conveniences: beach shoes (some beaches are rocky), beach towels, guide books, even a welcome basket with coffee and goodies. We enjoyed visiting the property's waterfall, but be sure to wear bug repellant. I loved walking around the neighborhood admiring the flora and fauna and met some very friendly neighbors who shared Hilo history. We discovered a few local restaurants worth mentioning: Tina's Garden Gourmet Café (amazing Thai food with lots of organic veggies), Moonstruck Patisserie (the best croissants outside of Paris) and Pineapples (delicious fish & chips and great live music -- make a reservation). Many local attractions are nearby: several waterfalls, Banyan Drive, Coconut Island, snorkeling with turtles. This home is a gem!
