Spectacular in Everyway!

5 of 5
Ridiculously beautiful view from a giant, airy suite overlooking the ocean and coffee orchard. The pictures do not do this fantastic studio apartment justice - it's stunning, yet simple and elegant. Carol is a gracious, generous and thoughtful hostess, providing everything a traveler needs, from travel/ Hawaii history/plant/animal books to soaps to linens to beach/adventure gear to her delish organic coffee to filtered water, grill, super comfy bed and more! The suite is gorgeous, light-filled with skylights and tastefully furnished with little nooks for eating, reading and relaxing. Definitely the most beautiful and most quiet place we stayed in on our 3 week island adventure. A suite like this in a hotel or resort would easily be in the several hundred dollar range. Fast wifi, cable, gorgeous bathroom with amazing shower; every wall is a window so you can see the ocean, sunrise, sunset, horses, wild turkeys, avocado and coffee trees and the rest of paradise. Or you can draw the shades and sleep-in. Conveniently located up the mountain from Captain Cook, which has a grocery. A perfect getaway/adventure-base/vacation hideaway. I would never leave if I lived here....

A wonderful and quiet place to stay

5 of 5
Our stay in Kalua Kona was most pleasant and enjoyable! Our 10 days of exploring the Island went smoothly to a large degree because of being able to settle into the comfortable, clean, quiet and relaxing suite and beautiful natural surroundings we experienced while staying at Bear’s Place Guest House. We had wanted to find a pleasant alternative to a condo or hotel and were drawn to the website for Bear’s Place Guest House. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the attention to small details that gave our accommodation a personal touch, eg. finding a plate of fresh fruit and muffins and orchid in the fridge for us to enjoy the first morning. Our suite was very well supplied with everything from extra blankets and linens for an extra sleeping bed, to a well stocked kitchenette giving us the complete flexibility to plan for preparing meals if we so chose. We loved eating and sitting under the covered and private lanai outside, surrounded by banana plants and inquisitive geckos. The design of the guest house ensures each suite to have a full amount of privacy and independence. We made good use of the free WIFI service provided to check emails etc. We were able to use the amenities of Bear’s Place o do our own laundry and dishes, and be able to even pack a provided cooler to take with us on daytrips. We appreciated being higher on the sloped hills above Kona where it was both cooler and quieter. Bear’s Place is conveniently located only within 15-20 minutes driving of downtown Kona. , or 10 minutes from the Kona airport. Travelling north on the Island was super easy using the nearby Mamalaoha Highway. Only a mile away from Bear’s Place is also a convenience store and gas pump, with a good restaurant/pizza service inside from which to order take- out food. We would certainly highly recommend Bear’s Place to anyone visiting Kalua Kona! Thank you to our welcoming and hospitable hosts, Nanette and Anne!

Perfect Place to Stay!!1

5 of 5
I visited Kona the week of Ironman and had the absolute best time! The apartment is spacious, bright, clean, quiet and very close to town, shopping and dining. It's a lovely one bedroom apartment with a little private garden perfect for morning tea or to just relax in, and the pool is perfect for an evening swim. Rick and Suzie were great host and were there when I arrived. They have snorkel gear, boogie boards umbrellas, and even a little cooler for you to take to the beach. They were also very helpful in giving suggestions of places to visit during my stay. If you are looking for a place to stay in Kona, I highly recommend staying here. It's a great place, it's quiet and close to everything. When I make it back to Kona, I will make sure to stay here again. Mahalo Rick and Suzie!
