Fantastic House, Great Neighborhood....who am I kidding....it's Paradise!

5 of 5
Our family of three (mom and dad mid forties and 10 year old son) had an incredible trip to the Big Island. This house made for a great place to relax in the mornings and after a long day of touring, snorkeling (tide pools in the neighborhood are a quick walk), hiking, bicycling and all the other great activities. If you want to get away from the touristy places (which have their own charm) and feel like you're a million miles away from the norm this house will help set the tone for a vacation in paradise. Plenty of space, lots of kitchen equipment (we cooked a lot of great local food), cozy beds, ceiling fans everywhere, indoor/outdoor living at it's best. A very well thought out vacation rental overall. We fell asleep to the sounds of the night critters and the wind in the palms all around. Massive rainstorms that were quick and powerful made for an even more intense experience. The earth is very alive here and you feel it. If there weren't so many places to explore in the world we'd go back again and again!

An plumeria scented orchid in a lush paradise

5 of 5
A picture tells a story....but the real life experience far exceeds their pictures...this tropical oasis albeit a short walk away from the Hilo Bayfront provides an absolute Lost in Paradise feeling. The lushness and Hawaiian fragrance is a visual and aromatic memory that you will never forget. Spacious, well organized, super clean, and exactly as advertised. Diane & Phil are excellent hosts with great recommendations to better your Hilo/Big Island experience. While their environment is completely new, it has an old style feel of being comfortably laid back in paradise. We are returners and will do so for each of our future Hilo visits. This exceeded all our expectations and more. Definitely a 10 star rating on a 5 star scale. Super mahalo Diane & Phil for the peaceful serene visit.

5 Stars Is Not Enough

This is going to be a rave review, just want to warn you right from the start! If you are looking for hospitality, comfort, luxury, affordability and accessibility than look no further. Our family of 6 enjoyed such a fantastic week staying here toward the end of March 2015. Susan and Walt have a beautiful vacation home and we are so grateful that they decided to share it and not move in permanently themselves, (which is what we would have done.) From the stunning ocean views, to the wonderful decorating lines, the most comfortable beds and best walk-in showers ever, we just were blown away every day. The Big Island is the most visually stunning and our favorite place that we have traveled to, thus far. If you are trying to decide between islands, this is a winner. We highly recommend taking a day to visit the green and black sand beaches. They are amazing to see. Have you ever been off-roading with your parents? You should try it for a hilariously bone jostling, but extremely enjoyable time! It's an experience not to be missed! We also enjoyed fabulous dining from the Lava Java Cafe in town, to the exquisite Four Seasons dinner at sunset. The little beaches along the roadside are not always marked well but are such a treat. Susan was so kind with her availability and gave us directions on how to find these little gems. Every beach is unique and quite possibly, more amazing than the last one you visit. Our family believes in and is privileged to have personal relationships with The Great Creator, the Lord Jesus. The Gospels state, "What manner of Man is this, that the winds and waves obey Him? God created everything through Him, all things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." We certainly experienced that and were awed by His presence and beauty on this island and look forward to returning in the near future! Mahalo Susan and Walt!
