Most amazing view!

5 of 5
Spent one week at this incredible property. It is quiet and very well suited for two people. The pics don't even do the view justice; it's that breathtaking. Best sunset I've ever seen in my life. You can grill, lounge, relax.. and if you truly get sick of the beautiful outdoors you can head inside to watch the enormous TV for a bit or take advantage of the high speed wifi. The interior is very breezy and well protected from the heat; it was always cool and comfortable with just open windows and the occasional fan, even if it was 90+ degrees outside (which it was through most of our stay, even in February! I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to extreme heat and humidity). There is a local beach just a short drive from the house. Downstairs laundry units were also appreciated. A point that was very important to me - throughout the entire homeaway process, from pre-booking questions to mid-stay contact, Melinda was extremely prompt and responsive. That was much appreciated! It's also worth noting that this is an isolated property, not down the driveway from someone's backyard. So while you can promptly reach management, nobody is meddling in your vacation plans. If you're looking to get away, this is definitely worth checking out. It is a bit of a trek from the nearest cafe or amenities, but it is a world away from a run of the mill, tourist trap kind of vacation.

Property well kept but smaller the appears in pic

The house is well equipped with absolutely everything a person or group of people could need. It was a little bit hard to find but Elizabeth's personal instructions on how to get there were very good. Definitely going there when the sun was up was a bonus as we weren't familiar with the area. The neighbours that have been there for several generations were very hospitable and gave us great info about the area. Elizabeth and Steve were gracious hosts and responded to our email enquiries very promptly. We were there to celabrate a fiends 60 birthday and we were able to arrange with Elizabeth a ice cream birthday cake for our late arrival on the 10th,. We highly recommend the property, it suited 3 couples extremely well and is located in a very laid back area where ther are multiple vacation rentals and vacationers in the same mind set as we were.

Perfection!

5 of 5
I can't wait to go back. The house and property are even nicer than it looks in the photos. The house is very clean. There has been a lot of attention to detail for the comfort and convenience of the guests. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. The normal condiments are provided. There was even a large pitcher of herb infused cold water in the fridge. There are towels, hair dryers, etc. You really don't need anything but your clothing to go there and enjoy the stay. The home is located in a residential area, but it is so secluded due to the waterfall and lush vegetation, you feel that you have arrived in a rain forest. There are coqui that sing you to sleep at night, along with the sounds of the waterfall in the distance. Amazing. The beds are incredibly comfortable. We even had tempurpedic style pillows on the beds. The location is very centrally located. It took about 10-15 minutes to get there from the airport. Town is just a few minutes away by car. Nearby is Rainbow falls (you could actually walk there from the house). About an hour away (or a bit less) are the volcanoes and other waterfalls (Akaka). The town of Hilo is not large and busy like Honolulu. It is very welcoming and relaxing. The people are incredibly friendly. During our stay, there was quite a bit of rain. Apparently, Hilo is located on the 'wet' side of the island. No matter - if it was raining to hard to go out, we were perfectly happy to sit in the hammock chairs on the enclosed/screened in and covered back deck while sipping tea :) The house/property were as much of a vacation as the surrounding sites. Another plus - because it rained frequently, we had a lot of wet clothing. We were very thankful for the washer and dryer available for use in the house. We were fortunate to meet the owner of the property. She is a lovely person and really tries hard to make sure the guest are comfortable. I am starting to save up now to make a return trip. This was one of the best vacations we have ever taken! You will return from you stay fully refreshed - it really is impossible to get stressed in this location:) Enjoy!
