Fabulous Vacation

5 of 5
The house was easy to find with the direction provided. The path from the circular drive leads to a Koi pond by the front door. Keys were in a lock box and easily accessed. The home is high on the mountainside overlooking the beautiful pacific. We spent most of our time on the lanai and enjoyed watching the birds and whales breaching below. The weather was sunny, in the 80s every day with a beautiful breeze. A few mosquitoes at dusk, but nothing major. We watched the sunset over the ocean from the hot tub. The house itself is spacious and spotless. The pictures don't do it justice. There are two master suites with king beds, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both have huge bathrooms. There are two queen bedrooms with a shared bath, and a queen sofa bed in the den. We ate most of our meals on the lanai, where there is seating for 16. The kitchen is beautiful, although we did find there were a few tools missing that one might expect in a gourmet kitchen, such as a garlic press, Chef's knife, barbeque brush, and griddle. There is a media room with comfy recliners where we enjoyed watching the Patriots win the playoffs! There were beach towels and a lunch cooler provided. There is an additional guest room across the Koi pond if needed. The home is a bit out of the way (which is just the way we like it). It was about 40 minutes to Kailua Kona, 20 minutes to Waimea, 2 hours to Volcano, 10 minutes to Hapuna Beach. There is a small market close by, but better to do your main grocery shopping in Kona. There is so much to do on the Big Island. We went on a fishing charter, The beaches of course - Hapuna Beach and Waialea Bay Beach (Beach 69), Tide pools and sea turtles at Puako Beach, Pololu Valley lookout and hike down to black sand beach, Mauna Kea summit tour to see the observatories and stargazing - the skies are amazing!, snorkeling at Honaunau (Two Steps), shopping in Kailua, night snorkeling with manta rays (not to be missed!), Volcano National Park, Hiking Kilauea Iki, Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour over the volcano, Akaka Falls State Park, and Waipio Vally. And then of course, sitting on the lanai with a good book! Jenny & Mark were great were prompt with communication. We had a minor issue with the WiFi and they were easy to reach and very responsive. I would definitely recommend this home!

One really important thing

5 of 5
Okay, I read about 5 five-star reviews and I agree with them all. I don't have much more to add, but the one thing that I especially pleased and surprised to find, which I can't overstate it's importance to a wine drinker - they have a wine fridge!!! Okay, I'll add a few things more. Your owners are going to be helpful. Close by too, in case there is a problem, there wasn't though. We cooked every day we were there and the kitchen is great. The satellite tv was amazing, I don't have such a thing at home - to most it might be normal. Lots of options for sitting and eating. Which is nice. I'm a runner and enjoyed the challenge of running up and down the hills in the village. the local beach is nice for snorkeling and tooling around in. They even have a little spot that was perfect for our 2 year old to explore comfortably. Like they say. Bring your food! The local store is ... okay, and 15 miles away. The pictures don't do the place justice, EVEN though the pictures are great. A nice open house where you can open all the doors and get a breeze (when we were there we got some 30-50mph breezes!!). This place was remarkable. Thanks Carl.
