Couldn't ask for a better location for volcano viewing

5 of 5
We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 3-1/2 week stay to Big Island over the Xmas holidays. This is a beautiful cottage to use as a base for exploring the Volcanoes National Park. Spotless, nicely appointed kitchen, comfortable bed and pull out couch, lovely landscaping – nice lanai but a bit too cool to take advantage of in December! Electric blanket and cosy gas fireplace were greatly appreciated. Excellent value for such a high quality property. Location is unbeatable especially for Kilauea night viewing. Loved the little town with funky art studios and cafes. Be sure and have a meal at Volcano House in the Park.

Great Place to Stay

5 of 5
We've stayed at the Cottage twice now, and enjoyed every moment of each visit. You could not find a better place to relax anywhere on the island. Mahalo, Steve and Keala.

Great location to explore Volanoes National Park

5 of 5
Review #10866649 “Great location to explore Volanoes National Park” This is a fantastic cottage to stay near Volcanoes National Park. I stayed a week with my daughter during our end of year holiday break and we had a fantastic time. It is within a few miles of the Park and Volcano Village, so it is easy to explore the park and hike with quick, easy access to great restaurants--Thai, Thai and Kilauea Lodge. Some of the highlights were hiking In the Park and exploring areas on the Chain of Craters drive (especially the petroglyphs hike), seeing the Halema'uma'u crater glow and hearing Pele rumble at night, viewing the spectacular night sky on a clear night from the back deck of the cottage, watching the turtles at Richardson beach tidepools and on the beach at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, seeing the current lava flow from Pu'u' O'o in the helicopter. The only downside was having to drive 30 min in either direction (N/S) to get to a beach, but after seeing Hilo, I would much prefer to stay in Volcano, and it takes a good few days to truly experience all that Volcanoes Park has to offer. We will happily return some day for another visit.
