A lovely house in Hydra

5 of 5
My husband and I had our best long weekend ever, in Captain’s house. We loved the view and the sunsets, from the extraordinary veranda overlooking the really beautiful port of Hydra. We had two very romantic dinners there, admiring the view. The house is impeccable, furnished with fine taste and with a lot of comforts. The owner is a real gentleman. He is always alert to help us and advise. I fully recommend it.

Absolute Paradise

5 of 5
Everything about Freddy's House was perfect from the moment I stepped through the gate door; the property, its location, and its hosts. Spotlessly clean, impeccably furnished and incredibly warm, Freddy's House was an oasis of calm for the three weeks I was on Hydra. For an island with so much to do outside, I will confess I often didn't want to leave the house! Beyond being Architectural Digest-ready with its effortlessly chic styling and incredible history, the house itself is chock full of up-to-date amenities one longs for on a trip far away from home; a dishwasher, washer/dryer, great showers, air conditioning, refrigerators with ample storage, and most importantly, fast wi-fi in every room and great cell reception throughout. Dino and Trina were wonderful hosts, always available with any questions I had about the house, its history, or the island itself. (Their recommendations on where to eat were especially welcome, and always spot on.) I had a once-in-a-lifetime stay at Freddy's, and know any other traveler who stays here will too. A tip: if Dino offers you a tour of the island, take it without hesitation!

Magic!

5 of 5
The Windmill is the most beautiful place you can imagine! The pictures on HomeAway don’t lie. We loved the view, the sunsets, the two donkeys, Stasia and Soritsa (which we fed every day) and the dog Sallie. We also had fun watching the every day life in the harbor. We even liked the stairs! Hydra is a very special island, it’s hard to describe the atmosphere, it’s something you just have to experience. I think we all fell in love with both Hydra and The Windmill. And Maria, the owner, is so sweet, warm hearted and helpful. Thank you, Maria, for letting us stay in your home. It felt like it was our home too! We’ll be back!
