The Bavarian Vacation

5 of 5
Grafenburg Castle was much more than we had expected. Our experience with the owner was excellent! She went out of her way to help us coordinate our stay at her home with our stay in Munich for the "Oktoberfest". On driving up to this lovely castle with a spectacular view, we were greeted by the Keyholder. This pleasant woman, showed us up to our beautiful apartment and explained everything we needed to know about the amenities within the apartment. She also gave us verbal ideas for sightseeing and dining places within the community. We found that a welcome gift of champagne with awaiting us in the full size refrigerator. The two bedroom, two bath unit was certainly more than we expected. The apartment was done very tastefully in soft colors that were very appealing as you could then enjoy the art and music that was in the apartment to enjoy. The porch off the back of the castle had a view that left you speechless. We sat there every night and watched the sun set over the Austrian Alps. As for side trips, we enjoyed Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberammergau, Bavaria and Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria. What a wonder hidden secret this castle is. We are hoping to return in September 2016 so we can continue to explore the wonders surrounding Grafenburg. One last item, do take the time and meet the "doorkeeper".

Oktoberfest!

4 of 5
The home was very nice. In a lot of ways better than described. Clean and well maintained with lots of amenities Worked very well for five grown men although bed space was at a premium. The garden is no longer there and is being built as a new house. Therefore the view in the main picture is not accurate. The foundation for the new house is being built exactly where the umbrellas are in the picture and the deck is not accessible. The owner did offer a small concession which we accepted. The neigborhood was quiet and friendly. Shopping for food and drink is close and convenient. Public transit is close and convenient. Negatives. Had a lot of trouble getting information from the owner. This caused a lot of stress because I did not have the address until the day we flew out of the United States and did not know how to get in the house even as we rode in the taxi from the airport. My fears were ultimately unfounded because a caretaker arrived to greet us when we got there. A little more information would have gone a long way to easing my concens. As others have said, the train track is right out your window and is loud and fast. Didn't really bother me but it's not like you'd miss it. Pretty much ran throughout the night. Great trip overall and the house was not an exception, even with the issues described.

Wonderful apartment with everything we needed

5 of 5
Our family (five Americans) stayed in this apartment for five nights and we absolutely loved it. The apartment was very clean, safe, in a great location, and Saviola was the perfect host! She is affable, efficient, and extremely helpful. She stood out on the sidewalk after I phoned and told her we were nearby in order to help us find the parking garage. She then helped us park the car and helped carry our bags up. She thinks of everything: creamer for the coffee, paper towels, carry bags for the groceries, plenty of bath towels, and umbrellas. She directed us to good restaurants and suggested modes of transportation to get to Vienna, our next destination. She checked in with us every few days to make sure we were enjoying our stay and to see if we needed anything. If we ever return to Munich, we will definitely be staying here again. Saviola is very professional and friendly.
