Lovely Neighborhood Home

4 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay at Oso Suite. The accommodations were absolutely lovely. We enjoyed the jacuzzi with colorful lighting, the garden tub in the master suite. We also loved having two living spaces one up stairs, and one downstairs. With two couples co-habitating for the week, the extra space was very nice. I have to also say that the beds were SOOOOOO comfortable, although a little creaky. The only thing we missed was seclusion. Perhaps in the summer months when leaves are on the trees, this is better captured, but in early April, we could clearly see our neighbors on both sides. The development in this neighborhood is very nice and upscale, but we were hoping for a lot more seclusion. The beautiful meadow shown on the website can be viewed from the front porch. This looked like a great place to take our dogs for a soulful, leashlessly free romp in the wilderness, but it appeared to be private property, and we were apprehensive about going there. When one sees the picture on the website, it is implied that this area is part of the property, when in fact, it's not. We also had a frightening encounter with an enormous brown and white, fully intact pit bull, who strolled onto the property from the backyard. Our dogs were out in the yard at the time (electronic collars with invisible borders) and this gave us quite a scare. This unleashed pit bull came around several times during our stay. There was also another small brown dog who wandered around the property as well. Ironically, the homeowners association called us about our dogs not being leashed (again, we had them on electronic collars with a reasonable and safe set perimeter), so we just want to make everyone aware of these other dogs who were not contained. We would have liked to have used the fire pit, but to do so, one must acquire a permit each day that you use the fire pit, and it can't be used at night (which would have been the most ideal). I would think that most people would enjoy the fire pit at night. If it's advertised as being a usable fire pit, it would be best to let people know that they only use it during the day and with heavy constraints on its use. The accommodations were 5 star, but our expectations, based on the internet ad, were somewhat disappointing.

What a great place to stay!

5 of 5
Me and my wife went up to this cabin in October and with so many places to choose from, we were blessed to find this location. This is a great place to stay for a vacation, way up in the mountains. Extremely clean and neat. We went up to Brasstown Bald (got great pictures) and the Georgia Mountain Festival and had a blast! The owners are extremely nice and helpful (i.e. if you need a map or directions, places to eat). The location is perfect for anybody looking for convenience to Young Harris, Brasstown Bald, Hiawassee, and North Carolina. Very private, secluded, and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Great place to kick back and relax. We will be back shortly!

Stunning setting and interior too!

5 of 5
JJ's Retreat is a fabulous place to stay in the north Georgia mountains! We arrived in the dark, so at first simply marvelled at how well appointed the cabin was, and went to bed. The next morning we got a real treat when we woke up to wonderful views! The sunrise from behind the mountains opposite the rear porch is stunning... and at the other end of the day we star-gazed from the hot tub. The first morning, my dad, who doesn't sleep heavily, said he had the best night's sleep for the first night in a new place / bed he'd ever had, which is quite an achievement! Brian and Dale have thought of just about everything, and far more than most vacation rental owners usually do - it almost felt like a show home that we shouldn't be spoiling, everything was so beautiful, yet it was very homely and comfortable at the same time. All 4 of us (myself and hubby, plus my parents visiting from the UK) enjoyed our stay and really had a hard time leaving. This is the first vacation rental we've stayed in that we have immediately wanted to go back to and take other people with us to enjoy! Truly memorable for so many reasons, all of them good :-D I should also add that the whole rental process, from the first enquiry to the directions we were given to get there, was also very easy and pleasurable, which of course sets the trip out on the right footing. Thank you for everything - whenever we can find the time off work (!) we will be back again, probably with different visitors or maybe even on our own, despite the place being a bit more than 2 people need!
