This place was just right for my husband and I when we stayed in May. It’s south of Forsyth Park in an area that is undergoing Gentrification. Just a few blocks to the west the neighborhood is still somewhat rough but heading north, south, and east it’s a nice mix of commercial and residential.
It has off-street parking – very nice in Savannah – and a cab ride to River Street is less than ten bucks. Forsyth Park is two blocks away and some very nice places to eat/drink are all within walking distance.
This house has a privacy-fenced backyard that is very pleasant – the photos don’t do it justice. It’s a great place to stash your bikes as it has a gate that locks. The patio set and the grill are very nice and there’s a mature shade tree nearby – and the patio set has an umbrella. It’s a great place for coffee in the morning.
The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet – at night it was so still we could hear a pin drop. I had to go to WalMart and buy a small fan so I could sleep. No traffic noise, and even though there are dogs on all sides there was almost no barking.
The kitchen is small but nicely equipped with modern appliances, granite countertops, and very nice glassware and cookware. The washer and dryer are sooo convenient – we only packed three days of clothing though we stayed all week.
The central air conditioning system is quiet and enthusiastic – even though we had several ninety degree days we were pleasantly cool. The bed is very comfy with very high-end linens (I have the exact same duvet cover at my house!) and the attached dressing room is very nice. There’s a small TV in the bedroom and an iPod dock/clock radio. And I can’t say enough about the lightening-fast WiFi.
In the living area there’s a ceiling fan (it makes a squeaky noise!), a nice flatscreen, and a DVD player. The furniture is nice, the hardwood floors are smooth and in great shape, and this house was clean and nicely kept up.
While there is a pull-out couch in the living room this place would be rather tight for more than two people – unless you were VERY close friends!
The bathroom is nicely updated but the towels are getting a little threadbare. There were only two hand towels – we bought two more at WalMart and left them there. And the bathtub is rather slick – we purchased a bath mat that we left behind as well after I almost killed myself in the tub.
We would definitely rent this place again!
