We were in Blairsville to throw my Mom's 90th birthday celebration and needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights. In scenic areas we would rather find a place with ambience than a hotel so I naturally went to HomeAway to find this cabin. We were not disappointed; we liked it.
The cabin is small but seemed well equipped and spacious because of its open floor plan. The screened porch was literally only a few feet away from the creek with a little waterfall so the sounds and view were delightful.
The host went out of her way to accommodate us. She was prompt in returning our calls and very helpful. Thanks Joelle.
Now to the downside: Everywhere we go now the rentals are using the curly bulbs so it takes away from a cheerful atmosphere and leaves most places without lots of windows very dark. This is unfortunate because with a cabin already in the woods, even the skylights weren't able to bring light into the cabin so it felt a little too subdued for us. If that doesn't bother you, then you will be fine here. If you're looking for something bright and cheerful, it may be a little too dark for you. I know landlords are trying to save money in placing these bulbs in their units but I've read several reports and seen pictures of the bulbs from China catching fire when they are about to burn out so that could present an issue that most might not be aware of.
Bulbs or not, this is a nice cabin that is clean and cozy. We would stay there again because of the owner, the creek, the porch and the convenience to the Blairsville area. And the price is good too! Next time we might just BYOB (bulbs). :)
