Excellent place to stay

5 of 5
Owner is very nice and the place was perfect. Right in the middle of the action of downtown Savannah.

Wonderful Stay!!!

5 of 5
The location is unbeatable, Forsyth Park is just out of your door and we really enjoyed our walks there in the mornings and afternoons. We loved the apartment. It was clean and super comfortable for a couple with a 9 years old and a dog, and very convenient to everything. The listing description is very accurate. The nearby organic grocery is just half a block, expensive but you find anything you could need. Diana didn't price gouge for New Year's Eve week like everyone else did or with the dog and also, she came right away to help us with the heater and the fireplace. THANK YOU. The toiletries and towels provided were very nice. The two other properties in the building were occupied but you have your own path and door and we were never disturbed by our neighbors, nor even seen them. Despite the rental is in a very busy and tourist street, we were not affected by any traffic noise during our stay and always had plenty of parking space at the front door. There is a beautiful cozy courtyard in the property that it's very clean and well maintain. We were so happy to find such a nice, clean and well furnished place to stay in our first visit to Savannah .We ate at The Firefly by Troupe Square and the food was delicious and the surroundings beautiful. Another recommendation, Vic's on the River, it's pricey but it's worthy if you are by River Street(try the lobster raviolis). Avoid Shrimp Factory, expensive and food is not good. Back to Garden Suite, we we felt so at home that we hated to leave, therefore we are already planning another vacation. But please, keep the secret, you don't want to spoil this little gem!!!

Authentic 1880s Savannah with Modern Amenities

5 of 5
The Garden Suite apartment on Forsyth Park is located in a prime area of Savannah. Everything about the apartment itself is top-notch - comfortable bed, fully appointed kitchen, enormous bathroom, and elegant décor. Kim and Brett have brought in modern amenities to their renovation while preserving the original 1880’s brickwork and huge double mahogany doors. The garden is quintessential Savannah with lovely plantings, statuary and water features. The apartment is air/humidity controlled (NO musty smell!). Its proximity to Forsyth Park (Savannah’s largest square) is an advantage as you can take an early morning jog around it and see the famous fountain, then stop at the organic food market on the way back. No need for a car here! We walked to the visitor center and took the Freedom Trail tour (recently featured in the NY Times Travel section) and then to the wharf (we took the paddlewheel boat cruise and learned about Savannah’s past and present industrial base – and heard some true (?) pirate stories). We walked every one of Savannah’s 26 squares. One of our favorite food experiences was at the Olde Pink House (lunch – same menu, less expensive, plus docents are available while you tour the house – make sure you tour the basement!). We also went to Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room for an authentic Southern meal served family style. We were advised to arrive around 1pm on a Wed. The wait was only about 15 minutes. Make sure to chat up the folks in front and behind you in line as these will be your dining companions. The food (so many different dishes!) tasted delicious to our “low sodium” sensibilities. (Note: much of the food in Savannah is heavily salted – we omit mentioning the other restaurants where we dined for that reason.) The Garden Suite should be on the top of your list for an authentic Savannah experience no matter how long.
