This house is brand new, and we really enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean when we arrived and everything was in working order, including the wi-fi. The ceilings are high, the furniture is comfortable, and the living room feels open and airy. There are ceiling fans in every room that allow you to take advantage of the crisp, clean mountain air. Both bedrooms have large, comfortable queen beds with an additional set of bunk beds in one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is outfitted with anything you might need. The front porch is large and was a great place to enjoy the mornings. There's another patio in the back with its own refrigerator. Both patios have a table and chairs to sit down and enjoy a meal. A big bonus is the fenced pet area off to the side of the house.
The owners put together a binder with all of the area's attractions that's very helpful to anyone not familiar with the area. The alpine town of Helen is a short drive away, and there are numerous hiking trails within a short drive with waterfalls and gorgeous scenery. Minnehaha Falls is really pretty, and the sliding rock (natural waterslide) Bridal Veil Falls at Tallulah Gorge is a big hit with the kids. If you want to get some air and walk around without having to get in the car, just walk across the highway and head down E Wildcat Road for a 3-mile hike around a loop that comes back out on the same highway just a few hundred feet away. The entire length of the road is shaded under a canopy of trees.
We had great meals in Clayton both at Grapes and Beans (lunch) and Zeppelin's Pasta House (dinner). There's an enormous Ingles grocery store with everything you need to make use of the house's kitchen.
The location of the house is ideal for anyone looking to escape and decompress from the city. It's only a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, but you feel completely removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. We would definitely stay here again!
