Just got home from a great time on Jekyll Island. Wife and I celebrated our 36th anniversary there, staying in the very comfortable and "homey feeling" area. This is a great place. Everything was ready for our arrival, from the folks at Jekyll Realty to the bedroom light being on to welcome us. The entire place was clean and it DID feel like home. The couch and recliners helped it feel that way. In a hotel room you generally get to watch TV from the bed, propped up with all available pillows. -- One small suggestion -- a paper listing of TV channels for those of us who are remote control challenged would be nice, HA. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was really nice, especially the shower. The location was exactly as described - play area for kids right out the back door, pool not much farther and the beach less than a 5 minute walk (we walk slow). Enjoyed the beach at low tide and the breeze kept the bugs at bay for the most part. Saw plenty of deer on the golf course and a couple of racoons crossing the parking lot one evening. Rented bicycles and rode around the historic district. We hadn't been on bike's since we were kids and the half day rental was PLENTY as our 'backsides' couldn't have handled any more. Had lunch one day at Fins and dinners at SeaJays, Driftwood Bistro and the SandBar & Grill. No regrets at any of those locations, good food and very very good service. All in all EVERYONE we came in contact with on the Island was extremely nice and helpful and made you feel like they appreciated you being there! That includes the guy selling fudge next to Jekyll Realty and a gentleman who stopped his bike ride to see if we needed any help or directions as we had stopped our bike ride to take a drink of water and watch a couple of golfers tee off. Must be my grey beard and white hair. In summary - If you are reading this - a stay at the Villas on Jekyll Island should be peaceful and relaxing. Ours was.
