Oh what a weekend! After months of planning our long awaited friends trip, the day before arrival we came to find out that we had been scammed by a hacker and had no lake house reserved. As you can imagine, we were quite distraught and did not know where to turn. The owner Woody called me personally to apologize for the situation, and offered to help in any way that he could. Although Woody did not know me from a hole in the wall, he offered his other lake house (turned out it was booked) and he offered to call friends and property managers that he knew to find us a house. It is awesome to see that great people still exist! In the end, we were able to find another lake house that had a cancellation and our friends trip was fantastic! Even though we never got a chance to stay at this house, I can assure you that people with Woody's character do not come around often and I am positive that you will have a great stay if you visit his lake house.
If I can offer any advice to future renters, please send your inquiries and all payment through the homeaway site and it's secure processes! Do not under any circumstances send payment through western union or paypal. If you receive an email claiming to be the owner, check the email address with the one on the homeaway site and/or call the phone number to double check. It sounds simple, but if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Thank you Woody for turning around our weekend, you have 12 customers for life now!
