Serene designer getaway in Blue Ridge Mountains

5 of 5
If you are looking for a peaceful hideout within a comfortable drive of numerous state parks, national forests, clear mountain lakes, quaint antique filled towns, a nice variety of local restaurants, tumbling waterfalls, and lush hiking trails, this is it! We had plenty to do and golfed on two different courses in addition to all of the other activities, but also enjoyed just hanging out in the living room and reading a good book. Our favorite golf course was Whitepath, which was uncrowded and had herds of deer wandering along the extremely hilly fairways. The cabin has recently been remodeled, is immaculate and beautifully furnished. The fact that our host is a residential designer who worked on high end homes in the area was apparent in every rustic chic detail...the kitchen was well equipped with a lovely view of the forest, the living room is spacious but cozy and the shower is awesome. Getting to the cabin requires a 9 mile drive on a 2 lane road from the nearest main highway, followed by another 2 miles up a winding narrow gravel road, but even though the setting is private, there are several larger "cabins" on acreage nearby that are out of sight but close enough to keep one from feeling too isolated. Coming from Florida, we enjoyed the noticeably cooler days and nights, did a lot of cooking, dined and breakfasted on the screen porch and loved listening to the roar of cicadas after dark. Molly was extremely gracious and after agonizing over numerous cabins online, we were very pleased with our choice. We combined it with a trip to Charleston and St. Augustine followed by a visit to the High Museum in Atlanta on our way home and had a wonderful Southern road trip. Highly recommended if you love being out of doors but appreciate a nicely furnished home.

Church youth group went for a week to HP.

We had a group of 8 and we were very comfortable. One of our youth said on the drive up that Heavens Peak was at Heavens feet! That was the perfect description! It is truly a beautiful home and Larry made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed! I would definitely recommend Heavens Peak to friends and relatives. Thank you Larry for sharing your home and its special history with us! :)
