Beautiful apartment - REALLY!

5 of 5
SPECTACULAR! The pictures do not do this place justice! Usually, the online photos look much better than reality when you arrive. NOT THIS ONE! Delightful, spacious, bright apartment with many special touches. For example, in the photo of the terrace, do you see that the painting on the wall is an extension of the actual view? So many nice touches, wonderful updates so that the apartment is modern and comfortable without losing the charm. It was absolutely SO clean, the manager was delightful and helpful (She met us with fresh daffodils on the table & a bottle of wine.) Of course, the terrace is amazing. You can even see this view from the bedroom through the patio door. Lovely to wake up to church bells and a spectacular sunrise. I almost always had to grab my camera and dash out to the rail for yet another photo. I'll bet I took 100 from here - it continued to awe & amaze us for the entire three weeks. Nice location - close to the bus stop, so it easy to get to Eze and Cap Ferrat and to Villa Rothschild (must see!) . We walked to the train station for a quick ride to the Italian border for the market. Strong Italian influence here... before long, we were calling it "FrItaly!" The old town is just below you - shops, restaurants, the beautiful marina. Nothing is as far as it looks on the maps! Restaurants are fantastic. Our favorite was L'Aparte in Rue Obscure. Villefranche-sur-Mer is delightful as was everything about our stay! Can I give it ten stars instead of five???

Cote D'Azur Serenity

5 of 5
When you open the door of this lovely modern apartment perched on the hillside overlooking Villefranche sur Mer, the view of the turquoise and sapphire blue of the Mediterranean Sea through the wall of windows, will take your breath away! The initial glimpse will transport you to a peaceful, relaxed, serene vacation state-of-mind that one only experiences in the South of France. This newly renovated, light and airy apartment has simple European style and all the comforts of home. Upon arrival, my family and I immediately took refuge on the huge balcony with a cool bottle of rose and sumptuous French bread, cheese, and olives. The well equipped kitchen allowed us to
prepare many home cooked meals made with France's finest and freshest ingredients found at the local outdoor markets, bakeries, and butchers. When we didn't want to cook, we had no trouble finding an outstanding bistro, restaurant, creperie, or gourmet take-out in the area. Villefranche has a large pebble beach, and the surrounding communities have sandy and rocky beaches. Each beach is easily accessible by foot, car, or bus and all are within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and other attractions. Renting a boat is easy even for those who don't consider themselves seafaring aficionados. For the more experienced mariner, there are speedboats, sailboats, and scull rentals. If scuba diving is your pleasure, there are plenty of diving expeditions .

For sightseeing, there is the beautiful city of Nice, the port of Antibes, and the enchanting medieval village of Eze. For those interested in gambling there are the casinos at Beaulieu or Monte Carlo. One can never be bored in this beautiful setting on the Cote d’Azur.

But whatever you choose, whether swimming, sailing, walking, or sightseeing, it is always wonderful to return to this peaceful, beautiful apartment and relax on the balcony. From breathtaking sunrises to the pink sunsets, the view from from this apartment never fails to please. For us, the full moon was an added treat as it bathed the entire inlet, filled with yachts, cruise ships, and small boats, with a soft pale purple haze. We all passed such a fabulous vacation that we found it incredibly difficult to leave.
