Winding Down in the Sun

5 of 5
Just before we leave, we'd like to say a big 'thank you' for a really great two weeks at La Ferrage. This has been a much needed holiday break for the two of us. The house, the terrace area, garden and surroundings have all played a part in bringing down our metabolic rates to a healthier level. In the second week especially we could feel the wind-down process kicking in. The weather was perfect, albeit hot, but with cooling breezes often blowing through. The house is always cool and the Wisteria shaded terrace is perfect for reading , eating and generally relaxing. Everything worked very well and according to the detailed instructions that you left. The piscine man came on schedule and the gardener, plus a visit from the English manager of the garden services. The garden looks beautiful and the Lavender trail leading towards the pool area is an inspiration. It must have been a lot of hard work for you but hopefully very satisfying to observe the changes made, when you are able to visit. We brought our own bikes along with us and have had regular morning cycle rides to Villars, past the Lavender fields. Also been to most of the local villages and quite a few different markets. We re-discovered Aix-en- Provence, which we last visited more than twenty years ago, and explored some of the sites on the Cezanne trail. The Office of Tourism in the centre has excellent maps and guided tours for this. We've found the local restaurants to be very good and on Friday evening we went to the Bistrot de Lagarde, a very interesting location and a very unusual menu! It's been a pleasure for us to stay in this beautiful home - many thanks again.
