Excellent

5 of 5
Seven members of our family aged 77 years to 23 years recently spent a week of utter delight in this beautiful place. The house itself was a mixture of aged creamy stone with a modernised interior preserving an immense feeling of the love and care given to their home by its owners. There is a marvellous huge kitchen. The grassed garden area is extensive with room to use the comprehensive games equipment, table tennis, archery, darts etc. There is an outdoor dining area plus a separate excellent barbecue equipped with tables and chairs. The icing on the cake is the superb floodlit outdoor swimming pool set in a magical quarried area with huge creamy blocks of stone providing sunbathing and architectural delight. We also enjoyed the neighbour's pets. The whole undulating grape-growing countryside was scattered with delightful villages, churches, abbeys and towns, including St Emilion, St Macaire and Bazas. We were surprisingly only 45 minutes drive from the lively stylish city of Bordeaux and about 60 odd kilometres to Arcachon on the Atlantic Coast. A wonderful, wonderful holiday. What more can we say. Jean, John, Lisa, Han, Jack, John and Jane

Le Grand Cortiou is magnificent!

5 of 5
As beautiful as the advertising pictures were, the house was even better. It is truly a special place. The farmhouse itself is both "grand" and comfortable. The rooms are generous and airy and have wonderful views in all directions. We particularly loved the small oval window views from the second floor. Just like a Fragonard painting! The potager was a lovely surprise for us. We were able to make many lovely meals from the fresh hen's eggs and just-picked vegetables. Sweet peas and fragrant roses were a bonus. The caretaker David is a gem. He could not have been more welcoming and helpful. He suggested really terrific day-trips and gave us great restaurant and winery suggestions. As non-French speakers, it was a particular help to have him available for questions. We loved the area. The property itself is incredibly private and peaceful, but it is also close to the vineyards and sights of the Loire Valley. A great home base for visiting the region. The only constructive criticism we have is regarding the kitchen set-up. Storage of dishes and glassware is not terrific, particularly for tall people. We had to get on our hands and knees to get access to china and bowls. A few hanging cabinets or open shelves would solve that problem. The oven is also in an awkward location. Also, I might suggest a better dining table outside. The plastic table and chairs don't really fit the grand setting. These were small things, though. We will highly recommend the property and will gladly tell our friends about it. We had an amazing stay. Thank you!!

Perfect Luberon Vacation Home

5 of 5
Our group of 4 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 grandchildren (12, 10, 3) enjoyed a wonderful week at Chez Manon for the following reasons. Since we all enjoy cooking, the open floor plan made it easy for the adults to share in the work and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils. The large indoor and outdoor tables were great for our group of 9. The 3 grandchildren enjoyed the pool multiple times a day. The privacy of the home meant that the granchildren's voices were not an issue, only to us. The great location in the Luberon Hills meant that there were interesting places to visit for all and we could split up. Some of us went on long hikes while others visited villages those days. Mont Ventoux was accessible and with full sun, simply outstanding. The nearby Roman ruins (perhaps Pont du Gard is not that close but the Julian Bridge is) were great. And, we never even used the bikes that were also available. The views were great for those who those who just wanted to relax. Chez Manon met the needs of all 9 of us from age 3 to 72, not an easy task for a group that takes an annual vacation and come from England and Minnesota, USA.
