LOVELY COTTAGE IN PEACEFUL SETTING

5 of 5
This lovely cottage, located just outside the small, picturesque village of Tremolat, is an ideal base to explore this part of the rich and historic Dordogne region. We were a group of 6--mom, dad, 2 kids (14 and 5), and 2 grandparents--who stayed for a week at the end of June 2014. The house with its many bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and numerous common areas, comfortably accommodated our group with space to be together and apart. The pool, with its views over the adjacent walnut orchards, was a lovely place to swim and relax after a day of sightseeing. Our kids absolutely loved the pool and spent every afternoon in the water. There are too many things in the region to see and do to list them all. Suffice to say, if you stay here you will be as busy as you want to be and cannot possibly run out of things to do and see (we particularly enjoyed the prehistoric sites around Les Eyzies, Chateau Castelnaud and the market in Sarlat as well as a few markets in some of the smaller towns). Upon arrival at the cottage, we were greeted by the property manager, Simon, who helpfully provided a tour of the clean and well-kept property and grounds and showed us the location of key items. Simon was easily reached during our stay and happily accommodated our requests. Linens, including sheets, duvets, pillows and towels, were all very clean and to a high standard. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, plates and glasses for a group. It is very helpful to have a car to explore the area, although there is branch line train service to Tremolat which is within walking distance of the cottage. In addition to the train station, Tremolat has a number of amenities for such a small town--patisserie, market day, Relais & Chateaux restaurant, casual pizzeria and historic church--which complement the amenities of the cottage. At the time of our stay, only the upstairs (master) bedroom had air conditioning, but the thick stone walls of the house keep the lower level of the house very cool and the 2 downstairs bedrooms remained quite cool and comfortable for sleeping with just fans (despite experiencing temps around 85+ F/25+ C for several days/early evenings during our stay, which may be unusual). Overall, the property is well-set up and supplied and it was easy to connect and work with both the owner (Karen) and property manager (Simon) regarding our stay. We would love to return if our travels bring us to this part of the world again!

SERENE, FABULOUS ACCOMMODATIONS, GREAT HOSTS!

5 of 5
Our family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Normandy thanks in great part because of Martin and Lynn's hospitality. We felt welcome and at home from the moment we arrived. The accommodations are lovely, and ample: 5 bedrooms and 5 full bathrooms! The country-side is serene and relaxing yet near enough to town for access to any needed supplies or just to go to the fresh market, butcher or pastry shop. We took them up on their offer for two delicious meals during our stay which were prepared to order and served complete with style and humor! I recommend this property without hesitation and can't wait to be able to return one day, there is so much to see and do, including just hanging around. Martin helped us arrange a private full day tour of the landing beaches and cemeteries and our guide Sean, was incredibly knowledgable and accommodating. Martin and Lyn are obviously proud of their property and maintain it clean as a whistle, and neat as a pin!!!
