The most PERFECT rental in the south of France!

5 of 5
We were so incredibly pleased with this villa, it's hard to overstate it. It was our family's first trip to southern France and we were hoping to find a beautiful, clean, picturesque apartment. Danielle's villa FAR exceeded every expectation we had. Picture winding through the perfect set of ancient cobblestone streets and approaching a vine-covered, shuttered, carved door, limestone fantasy. The apartment is 700 years old and stunning. You enter through an arched-ceiling foyer and head up two small flights of stairs through beautiful, secret courtyards. Arched French doors, tile floors, limestone walls, huge wood beams, cremone bolts on all the windows await you. The apartment is very big, much bigger than we expected, and has everything you could ever need. The location was so quiet and quaint, and walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants and markets. Actually, it was even walking distance to the main part of Avignon where you can see the bridge, the Pope's palace, tons of fantastic shops (including antiques), and street markets of cheese, bread, olives, produce, antiques, linens, flowers, etc. Parking was possible every night, though not always right in front. We rented a car from the Nice airport and used Avignon as our hub. We did four beach days on la cote d'azur (Le Ciotat, Les Saintes Maries De La Mer (the best), Antibes), we spent an afternoon in Arles, we visited L'Isle De La Sorgue (fantastic markets), Uzes, Calanques De Cassis, and many more. There is SO much to see and do, every day is an adventure of beauty and food. Danielle is the ideal hostess. So kind and accomodating. Midway through our trip, I lost my cell phone in Marseilles and she was so helpful in making calls to the stores to find it. She also walked us to a hard-to-find restaurant a few blocks away and helped us navigate a true French dinner experience. We would love to visit her villa again. THIS is a gem. Other info: wifi was great, washer/dryer was super helpful, Danielle started us off with several food items in the fridge - lovely, and make sure to check out which towns hold which markets on which days before you plan your trip. The markets are a joy.

a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful villa.

4 of 5
The villla was beautifully designed and furnished. The outside spaces were thoughtfully planned and well equipped. The air conditioning units were very loud and rattled and shook, and everyone complained about them. We thought they were not in keeping with the rest of the quality of the house. The bedrooms were very nice apart from the one outside the main house which was much too small for 2 adults , and as we were a party of 12 adults 1 couple had to sleep there and were not very comfortable. the air conditioning unit in there was particularly noisy. There was insufficient maid service time for a villa of that size and although the staff worked very hard , it meant we spent a lot of time clearing up ,washing up etc every day We only found the villa information booklet on the last day , we were not told about it. The children's/baby pool had a problem with the filter and so we were unable to use i as it was too dirty and full of insects, which was a shame as we had 3 babies .
