GREAT LOCATION AND STUNNING VIEW!

5 of 5
My husband and I, our two children (ages 5 and 7), and my parents stayed here for a week. The house is beautiful, well stocked, and walking distance to a market. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We took many day trips - Avignon was only 10 minutes by car and Bedoin (famous Monday Market) was about 45 minutes away. It was is the perfect rental for two families to share. The master suite had a huge walk in closet and private bathroom. Our children squealed with delight when they discovered their room had children's toys for them to enjoy during our stay. There was even an office/bedroom that I used to do some work during our stay. The wifi worked wonderfully, which made working easy. The kitchen was spacious and allowed us to cook meals as a family. We even used the Weber BBQ outside a couple of times. The kitchen had all of the amenities that I could have asked for as a cook. One tip for families traveling from the states: bring your own cloth shopping bags. I brought one, but I wished I had brought a few as the store charges for plastic bags and they are not as comfortable to hold when walking the short distance back to the rental. As nice as the house was, the backyard was definitely the highlight of this beautiful rental. Our kids enjoyed hours in the pool swimming each and every day. In fact, it was hard to get them out of the pool in the evenings! The back yard has a grassy area, a gorgeous collection of lavender bushes, and an incredible view of Villeneuve les Avignon and the fort there. Our kids enjoyed walking through the lavender to look at all of the insects and at night we sat on the lounge chairs enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine in hand. I have to thank Gregory and Laura for responding so quickly to my emails. The World Cup was on and I was having trouble accessing the channel. Within an hour of sending my email, Gregory had responded and I was able to watch the games! I appreciate how quick he was to respond to every email I sent. Fantastic rental with responsive renters!

CHARMING AND BEAUTIFUL

5 of 5
We stayed at L'école des filles for a week in April and it was exquisite. The medieval village of Bartentane, where it is located, is quaint and you would never expect this gorgeous property to be located off the unassuming cobblestone street (accessed via walking only). Juliette is great to deal with and the property was clean and perfect. The layout of the 3rd bedroom is slightly strange in that the bed is in the loft and there is a tub and sink, but no toilet. The kitchen is very well stocked- we even had a dinner party and no trouble with kitchenware and serving dishes. I recommend this special property to a group of 4-6 staying in Provence.

AMAZING HOME AWAY FROM HOME

5 of 5
First of all, Sophie was wonderful to work with - from my initial inquiry, through the reservation process, to arrival and departure - she was extremely helpful and responsive to all of my questions/concerns. Her English is fantastic as well! She is so kind and willing to help with sight-seeing and restaurant recommendations. We have rented several vacation homes in the past in various locations, this was by far the best experience we have had with an owner and her home. She provided us with a detailed list of all the amenities to help with packing. Just one example of her kindness - our party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children - ages 9mos, 2, 4, and 7), arrived late in sunday night after red-eye flights from the US (DFW, LAX and SEA) to Paris and then a train ride to Avignon. Sophie called a local pizzeria for us to see if they were still open and even accompanied my husband to pick up the order to bring back to the house. She was highly attentive but never imposing. (By the way, we highly recommend the honey and goat cheese pizza from the pizzeria). We felt as if we were staying in a castle. Part of the home was built in the 16th? century - which only adds to its charm - but it has been fully renovated and is truly a modern home. The home was immaculately maintained and is just as beautiful as the pictures - if not more! The beds were extremely comfortable. The home is well appointed with everything we needed for our stay (including all the kitchen supplies needed for cooking meals for our party of 10 and laundry detergent for our many loads of laundry). Sophie even brought by fresh thyme and other herbs for us to use. There were high quality hair dryers and hair straighteners for use. There was more than enough room for all of us to have our own space as needed and to allow for comfortable group gatherings. The kids (and adults) enjoyed the indoor pool and the wii when we had downtime. The stairs in the home (made of stone) are a little steep - not a big issue, just have to be careful with the kids. The location is great (a little tricky driving/navigating the narrow streets - but we got used to that quickly) - 10 minutes from the TGV station, walking distance to the bakery, grocery store, and restaurants. Such a charming area! Barbentane was a great homebase for our visits to the surrounding cities (Avignon, Nimes, St Remy and Arles). I would highly recommend this home to relatives and friends. We can't wait to return someday!
