Perfection: A+ location, apartment, owner

5 of 5
I stayed for 6 nights with 2 sisters and a 5-yr old niece; this was my 3rd trip to Paris, and previously I had stayed in hotels in Montmatre and on the Ile This place beat them both for 3 main reasons: (1) LOCATION: Ile Saint Louis is an especially magical part of Paris. The apartment is centrally located, within walking distance of many key attractions and 4-5 different metros, so you can select which line most expeditiously delivers you to your desired destination. It's got historical significance, architectural integrity, and a plethora of highly rated restaurants (Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands) within easy walking distance, as well as unique shops and boutiques. (2) THE APARTMENT ITSELF: Never again will I stay in a hotel in Paris, and many amenities make this apartment attractive. The Internet is terrific (my niece streamed Netflix while we adults took occasional midday breaks!) and we used it daily to google map our destinations and metro routes, find restaurant reviews and opening and closing times of places, etc. The kitchen is fully equipped, making it so much fun to go to the Marche and load up on cheeses, fruits, etc. The apartment is itself only one door away from a nice fromagerie, and two doors from a small but quality boulangerie that opens at 7:30 am. We easily popped down in the mornings and, within 1 or 2 minutes, had warm baguettes and pastries on our table. Such a wonderful treat. With 4 people, we were very comfortable; the sofa bed is spacious, equivalent to a US Queen, while the bedroom bed is a US Double. The loft bed is a bit bigger than a twin, and it was great for the child and her mother. (3) THE OWNER: Last, but not least, the owner, Philippe, is a highly efficient, attentive gentleman. He responded to all of my email questions thoroughly and promptly, and reimbursed the security deposit on the spot, as we were departing. Also, he offers an very inexpensive airport pick-up and I highly recommend it. It is considerably cheaper than hiring a taxi at the airport, and the driver knows exactly where the apartment is (not easy because the Ile is quite compact). I can hardly wait to return.

Darling apartment in charming neighborhood!

5 of 5
Although the apartment is a bit on the snug side, it is clean and beautifully designed, and my husband and I found it to be a wonderful landing spot for our first Parisian adventure. The unit is on the third floor of a four-story building, so there will be much stair-climbing during your stay! Overall, the multi-unit building was mostly quiet throughout our week-long stay, although on Saturday night the neighbors threw quite a party, with music and yelling late, late into the night. One night of it added to the overall whimsy of being on vacation in Paris, but they are not kidding when they say the buildings are not sound-proof. You can tell a lot of thoughtfulness went into the design and layout of the actual apartment, from the towel warmer in the bathroom (genius) to the single machine that is both the washer AND the dryer (brilliant) (although the dryer does take hours and hours to dry,) to the thick, light-blocking, wall-to-floor curtains that allowed us such deep sleep. Aside from small hooks on the side of a set of shelves in the bedroom there was nowhere to hang anything, which was something we had not anticipated. (A few hooks on the back of the front door, for example, would have created the perfect space to hang our wet raincoats when we got home, instead of trying to drape them over the short chairs we ate our meals at.) We loved, loved, loved the location--the immediate surroundings include all the necessities. There were bakeries for morning croissants and quiche, cafes for wine and onion soup, restaurants for fancy or casual dining, and plenty of shopping. You are steps away from the Bastille, which means you are steps away from the Metro, but we set out on foot each day and traversed various parts of the city without issue; Paris is so walkable! We would absolutely stay here again--both Rosie and Lynda were highly knowledgable and friendly to work with--and highly recommend you do, too!

Perfect for Us

5 of 5
We visited Paris for 10 days in April and loved this apartment. When we arrived, I felt as though I had already seen it in person, as the photos are very representative. Marc and Marie-Christine are such gracious landlords. The view out the windows will take your breath away. We loved leaving the windows open all night long. We would stay there again without hesitation!!
