We were very pleased with the apartment. This was our first VRBO rental and it went very well. Thierry (the owner) was very attentive throughout the rental process. He promptly answered all of my questions and made this very easy. We would definitely rent from him again.
I will give you some of the pros and cons of our experience.
Apartment was in a great location, very close to Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. Metro station was a block away. Lots of restaurants and cafe's nearby. Two supermarkets nearby (come out the door and walk straight ahead crossing street and continue up the street for 2-3 blocks, the Monope supermarket will be on the left). There is another small market just around the corner, as well as a pharmacy.
Greeting service was right on time both upon arrival and departure. Set up transportation for us to the train station for 70 euros which was very convenient.
Very comfortable apartment. Had all of the basic necessities including good internet service and satellite TV (didn't need TV as we were exhausted at the end of the day). We felt very safe and secure.
Surprised to find out free call to the USA, which was very convenient.
The price was very good compared to the hotels we looked at.
Washer/Dryer was VERY difficult to figure out. It is NOT like anything in the USA. It is an all in one unit and the directions were very confusing. The wives finally figured it out and eventually we got all of our laundry washed.
Very minor, but ice cube trays were missing and would have been nice to have, as well as a few more hangers for the closets. Discussed this with Thierry already and I am confident these items will be there for the next tenant.
Arrived on a Thursday which was a holiday in France, unbeknown to us, and there was an additional 20 euro charge by the greeting service, it would have been nice to know ahead of time, but it is what it is. Something to ask when you book so there are no surprises.
If you are elderly or have bad knees, the three story climb to the apartment will not be pleasant, but we knew this going in, so it was expected. Just know there is no elevator.
Overall, Thierry is great to rent from, he has a great apartment in a great location. I highly recommend it for 2-4 people visiting Paris. We had a very memorable time!
