Since we had family coming in from several states, West Palm was the perfect location near beaches & the home was just beautiful! It was originally built for the Mayor of West Palm Beach in the '20's & had formerly been a bed & breakfast. We had six master suites, all with their own full bathrooms & private balconies & the "honeymoon" suite on the ground floor worked out well for my parents who are getting on in age. We let the younger part of the group stay in the 2 bdrm/2bath cottage & the "cabana" room so they could stay up late & come & go as they liked which worked out well. We spent most of the time around the pool & covered area, barbequing & we had a private chef come in for a wonderful dinner in the formal dining room & adjacent dining area. We also cooked most of our breakfasts in the gourmet kitchen which had everything we could need! We just adored Old Northwood Neighborhood and could walk to the nearby trendy Northwood Village, full of nice restaurants & funky boutiques! We even got to experience the Northwood Art & Wine promenade where the whole street opens up once a month with art, wine & music - lots of fun! On the last night of our stay, it was my father's 90th birthday so we reserved 2 tables that they pushed together at nearby Café Centro - the food was good but the entertainment was even better! - kind of like a cabaret with a very talented singer, Ray, who started up with Frank Sinatra and eventually had everyone up dancing, including my Dad! - I would recommend making reservations as the place filled up & everyone stayed for the dinner & dancing. The property manager was knowledgeable about the history of the home (which we loved hearing about) the neighborhood & the surrounding attractions - we are even talking about going back next year - one of my nieces is getting married & with the beautiful Tropical Gardens, it would be a perfect place for a wedding!
