Wouldn't it be wonderful if you had old friends who owned a house in St.Petersburg, and their house offered a dazzling view of sunrise over Tampa Bay, and the interior was some near-perfect combination of immaculate, classy and comfortable, with a terrific kitchen and bathrooms? And the house was in an interesting, eclectic, quiet neighborhood with tropical flora and palm trees and banana trees and incredible banyan trees that make you wish you were young enough to climb? And your friends were willing to let you use the house whenever you wanted, and they thoughtfully provide a veritable guidebook with tips on restaurants and museums and beaches to help ensure that every day of your vacation went well?
Yeah, that's this house.
The home is clean and cool, but not fussy -- it was just as the pictures here suggest. The view of the bay from the front windows is striking first thing in the morning, pleasant all day long. The kitchen is a pleasure to use, but the variety of restaurants within 5 minutes of the house means you never have to cook if you don't want to. And best of all, the owners, though you've never met them, treat you as if you are old friends, and that an enjoyable time in their home is as important to them as it is to you.
We spent parts of most days at beaches, running and walking, collecting and gazing. All of the traditional Florida tourist options are there if you want them, but on our getaway, relaxation was the key component, and this place worked perfectly.
Honestly, other than not wanting to be in a hotel, my wife and I weren't all that sure what we were looking for when we rented this house. Turns out this house was exactly what we wanted. We're glad we found it.
