A gem of a vacation home in St Augustine

5 of 5
This lovely cottage is on a quiet, friendly street, just a 10 minute walk into the heart of the old city. The house is immaculate and well-supplied in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. Rob and Lisa were attentive and available, though not intrusive, throughout our stay. The listing description is very accurate, and the photos clearly show what the house is like. We had our adult children visiting with us for part of our stay, and with the extra master bedroom and bath, the layout of the house provided comfortable privacy for all. Even with the convenient walkability that this property provides, I found that having a car is helpful for getting to the beaches and the grocery stores (if you plan to use the kitchen), as well as for getting out to some of the interesting sites beyond the old city. Whether you're going to St Augustine for the history, the beaches or to sample some of the interesting restaurants, this property is a terrific home base, and the sunny front porch is a great place to come back to at the end of the day.

Fabulous Place!

This cottage was the most charming “rental” I’ve ever stayed in! I didn’t feel like I was in a rental property, but a friend’s home. It was so warm, comfortable, convenient and safe feeling. My mother and I rented this property for my sister for the month of January, as a 60th birthday present, to allow her to “get away” and relax, which is just what she did! It was small enough for her to feel comfortable being there by herself, but large enough for her to host friends and family at different times. The cottage is beautifully restored and taken care of, with the owners personal “artifacts” everywhere. There is even a book that talks about many of the items in the house. The rooms are open and with 3 adults there, we all found our own quiet space when needed. The kitchen is fully stocked, modern and very user friendly. The beds were comfortable and 1 small and 1 large closet and hooks everywhere made living there easy and tidy. We loved the front porch and back patio spaces as well. The location of the house was perfect for us, as we love walking! It is a short walk to the little Maria Sanchez Lake with a friendly path around it, and also about a 10-15 minute walk to downtown St Augustine, which we did often. We walked everywhere and found some great shops and restaurants, which there are plenty of! One of our favorite streets was Aviles St, in the downtown area, which reminded us of being somewhere in Europe. It’s a narrow little street, with historic houses, restaurants and shops. Walking down St George Street is must, a bit touristy, but a very colorful scene! Stop at Sangrias Wine & Tapas Bar (corner of Hypolita & St George St.), for a delicious glass of Sangria, live music and the best people watching on St George Street from the upstairs balcony! Our other favorite spot was the Tini Martini Bar, in the Casablanca Inn, overlooking Matanzas Bay. Perfect spot to rest after a Ghost walking tour! All in all I cannot say enough about this fabulous cottage. The owner Brigid was very responsive to inquiries, and communicated with us very promptly when asked, but left us alone as well to just enjoy her wonderful home! We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone!
