Relaxed remodeled piece of florida history with a sense of community

5 of 5
Chris and Von were gracious hosts that helped our family with two little boys enjoy our week stay. I picked this rental for location and low key atmosphere. It worked great with our youngest nap time to enjoy the room side pool and grilling/patio area. Unlike a high rise condo or hotel were able to balance the needs of a 2 and 5 yr old. Walking distance to beaches, restaurants, marina, or inlet channel to watch boats. Walking the sand to get to the water was a greater distance than walking from the apartment to the sand and still only a few minutes. We were surprised to find the one bedroom didn't have a door which we were counting on to simply nap time schedule (due to window AC unit in bedroom only). Kitchen was quite small but acceptable however barely had enough pot and pans to cook for 4. nice enought, but very sparingly supplied. Since it set up for mostly month to month tenants we had to buy hand soap, dish brush, toilet paper and some other supplies that we expected upon arrival. Laundry was basic(outdoor closet with old coin operated units) but a nice feature that we used. Often longer term guests share grilling and meals together on the patio which creates a nice sense of community that never exists in a hotel or condo setting. We would recommend for families with small kids wanting to use pool while others are napping or preparing meals. We had a rollaway bed and crib in bedroom which was tight but acceptable. The owner/manager Hagan was very accomidating while we tried to schedule our stay and quite professional and quick with email or phone replies. He seems to have other properties in the area also so he is experienced in the VRBO customer service. We would recommend this if you want to avoid the sterile experience of a hotel and gain the freedom of having a small "old florida" apartment vacation very near the beach.
