I needed somewhere to get away and finish some work, so I Googled some vacations spots and came upon this place. I contacted the owner, and within a few minutes had myself a quick getaway to the beautiful beaches of the Gulf.
The condo was clean, well equipped kitchen with all the modern fixin's- I picked up some groceries on the mainland because I didn't plan on getting out much. The bed(s) were clean, and SO comfortable, with satellite TV at my feet. They also have a great standup shower and a separate bathtub. There is also a washer and dryer, which really helped me because I flew back home and had to go right to work. The view was spectacular- the Gulf on one side and the Bay on the other, certainly one of the best settings I have ever been. I felt like I was getting the view only reserved for pelicans!
I needed to get a copy finished, so I needed some peace, quiet and inspiration, and this was certainly facilitated by my 20th floor retreat. I had a dependable wireless internet connection which came in handy often as it was necessary for me to access information I had stored on my network back in the city.
I allowed myself some relaxation time also, grabbing a GREAT meal right on the Portofino property, and booked myself a reinvigorating spa session, which is easily accessible on the Portofino property. They have a Starbucks in the main building, so my morning wake-up Americano was always at hand. My final day was spent at the beach, and what a beach it was, with powder-white sand and turquoise water. I booked an extra package with the owner ( she was SO helpful and informative, yet always kept in mind that I was there to finish up some writing that needed completed for my publisher) that allowed me a beach umbrella and chair. Reclining and watching the waves roll in in out was almost a spiritual experience, letting the stresses of work and day-to-day living in 'Zoo York' slowly erode like a sandcastle at high tide. I ordered myself some fortified beverages from the waiters who attend to each and every patron on the Portofino property, and they brought them right to my chair, the only interruptions being that I needed to sign the tab and lift my head to sip the frothy brew. I even decided to rent a motor scooter, which I took for a fun ride to Narvarro beach and back. All in all, a ' best seller' property in my book ( pardon the pun!), and plan to incorporate this place for future getaways from the cold confines of the Northeast.
