Relaxing beach getaway

5 of 5
This was our second trip to Schooner Sail. We loved it so much the first time that we had to come back! The house is stupendous...lots of room...well-furnished and decorated. The island is a paradise in old Florida. We will keep going back. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Thanks for another great vacation!

We will be back!

5 of 5
What a wonderful week we had here on North Captiva Island at the Blue Door Villa. I can't say enough about this beautiful home and island. The BDV was very spacious and accommodating to our 6 member family. The views from the roof top are spectacular! We also ended up on Day 2 getting the second golf cart from Annie, much needed if you have more than 4 people in your party. If you love wine like I do, Annie has plenty of nice large wine glasses to use. One thing I could have used was zip lock bags, don't for get them! You do not need a lot of clothing so try not to over pack with clothes. There are nice large beach towels and beach bags for your use, one less thing to pack! We also enjoyed the North Captiva Island Club everyday while on the island, such a nice perk! The club had kayaks that we used everyday along with tennis rackets, balls and even bikes. You can Kayak over to a section where the dolphins are swimming, we got lucky and saw a Mother Dolphin and her baby. Bring lots and lots of water, food and snacks. The store here on the island doesn't have much. We ate at Barnacles and the NCIC a lot all week. Prices are high but we expected that, supply and demand. Thank you Annie for sharing your beautiful home with us. We look forward to returning here again next Summer, Cheers! The Wagner's

Exceeds expectations

5 of 5
We just returned from a short but wonderful stay at The Compass Rose on N Captiva. We spent the first three days in Florida at Universal Studios and the last 4 days on N Captiva. From the minute we got on the island and into the house, our blood pressure dropped and the relaxation took over. The house is actually “better than advertised”. It is rare to find a vacation property that exceeds expectations but Compass Rose did just that. The location is less than 50 yards to the beach which is never crowded. On Saturday afternoon between 3:00 and 6:00, we were the only people on the beach for as far as you could see. The house itself is beautifully and uniquely furnished. The bedrooms have very nice mattresses and linens, and the baths are all updated and furnished with plenty of towels and other accessories. Screened and tiled porches make for great places for morning coffee and evening cocktails and the roof deck is perfect for a glass of champagne while watching the sunset. The living area has plenty of comfortable seating and a very good TV and surround sound system. Many board games, puzzles, videos, and CD’s are provided to help occupy the quiet times you may encounter. The kitchen is probably the best equipped rental kitchen we have stayed in. Plenty of dishes, glassware and serve ware and actually has complete sets of matching silverware. The appliances are very good and there is a surprisingly thorough stockpile of spices, foil and plastic wrap, coffee filters, etc. It also has the little things like good knives, cooking utensils, blenders, food processor, cutting boards, etc. that make cooking at the house easy and enjoyable. The Weber Gas grill worked perfectly and we used it every night of our stay. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would recommend Compass Rose to anyone looking for a beach house on North Captiva.
