Love to vacation here - love to have a home that feels like home

5 of 5
This was our second visit to North Captiva - it cemented that this is our favorite Florida getaway. What we loved about Windswept is how much Mark and Wendy make it feel like home. The kitchen is amazingly well organized and stocked. (Wendy even has a map of the kitchen with where everything is/belongs). Need a food processor - they have one. Need a spice you forgot to bring with you - they probably have it. When you want to entertain yourself or the family - they have it covered. The selection of movies if there's a rainy day (we certainly didn't have any but did have movie night) is very complete with recent movies, favorite movies and classic movies. Plus there is a closet full of games to make family time fun time. We love North Captiva and what it brings to our family. On this trip we spent time with a family of manatees, kayaked to see amazing birds, dolphins, stingrays and flying fish. We spent a lot of time at Mango's with Suzy, Matt and Yanni (world's best bartenders). We were also blessed, because we stayed at Windswept, right on the border of the sate park, to see the bobcats. This is the perfect place to connect with family and disconnect from the world (although the wifi worked perfectly). We would highly recommend Windswept as your home for the perfect vacation.

Better than I imagined! The gem of North Captiva!!!

5 of 5
My wife and I vacationed at the Blue Door Villa with two other couples in October of 2014. We parked our car at Pineland Marina and then took our boat on the 5-6 mile ride over to North Captiva. You can take the ferry if you don't have a boat or you can rent a boat from Monroe Boat rental for just $700 for the whole week. Having a boat at your disposal is nice as there are many islands and restaurants close by. We were greeted at the Barnacle Phills boat dock with our golf carts and our luggage and cooler was taken to the home. We were given a tour of the Blue door villa, which is gorgeous and we were told by multiple people that it was the best rental on the whole island. The home is 3 stories with a rooftop area that is just perfect for sunrises and sunsets. The home consists of 3 bedrooms plus a loft that is technically on the 4th story of the home. The home is furnished with everything you need and we were very impressed with the kitchen, which included All-Clad cookware sets, just what we have at home. No expense was spared in planning this home. The beach is a very short golf cart ride, maybe 30 seconds or less from the Blue Door Villa. It is VERY private as you may not even see anyone on the beach. Since you are on the gulf coast, the beach offers the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see! There are many small islands and beaches very close to North Captiva. Cabbage key is North just up the channel and has the famous "Cheeseburger in Paradise" that Jimmy Buffet sings about. A little further north is Boca Grande which includes a gorgeous golf course and plenty of restaurants. There are also miles of beaches such as Cayo Costa, which is less than 1/2 mile boat ride away and is an undeveloped national park. One can pull their boat right on the the beach and be in complete privacy with nobody in sight for miles. Our friends were smitten as we pulled right up to the pristine beach with crystal clear water and no one in sight! Talk about romantic. Our stay on North Captiva was such a great vacation. The owner, Annie made everything seamless and provided plenty of information about staying in her home on the island and preparing us for what to expect. For the price, the home is incredible and I highly reccommend the Blue Door Villa, it is a place you will never forget!

Relaxing beach getaway

5 of 5
This was our second trip to Schooner Sail. We loved it so much the first time that we had to come back! The house is stupendous...lots of room...well-furnished and decorated. The island is a paradise in old Florida. We will keep going back. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Thanks for another great vacation!
