Fabulous Vacation Destination!!!

5 of 5
Our family really enjoyed our week on N.Captiva. The house was even better in person than the pictures on the website (which I thought were great), the layout was open and we had plenty of room for our group of 10. Schooner Sail has a great location, just a minute to the club & a very short golf ride to the beaches. We very much enjoyed the laid back feel of the island and the beautful sunsets from the top deck every night. We were able to find some time to fish around the island one day, catching several, trout, snook and other fish. fishing was very productive and lots of fun. The beaches were very clean & Gulf water was very clear with a beautiful aqua blue tint. Our kids enjoyed snorkeling, shelling and the club pool each day. We were only disappointed that we had to leave the island at the week. We enjoyed our whole experience and look forward to the next to we can make it back down to North Captiva. Owner was very attentive & had the house in great shape.

Wonderful home - owners have thought of everything

5 of 5
Serendipity is a beautiful home that is well designed, furnished and maintained. The kitchen was full of modern amenities and well stocked. The owners provided a nice selection of pool/beach toys, chairs and towels, which was extremely helpful. The reverse layout of the home provided for outstanding views and the location was great - very close to a nice private feeling portion of the beach. Our only hiccup was with two (of the many) sliding doors which we were unable to lock in the evenings or when we were away, although we understand these are being addressed. Overall we had a near perfect family vacation at Serendipity and plan to be back!

Loved North Captiva!!

4 of 5
Let me first state that North Captiva is not for everyone but my wife and I absolutely loved it. There is very little in the way of restaurants or nightlife of any sort which is fine with us. Everyone drives around blissed out in their little golf carts like they all took happy pills. This cottage is more than enough space for a couple or small family and we would not hesitate to rent it again. A few things need to be pointed out however. 1 You are not alone in this property. There is a small apartment in the lower level that we did not know was occupied until later our first day. The renter is a service person for the club and very personable and was a very quiet and good neighbor, but be aware he is there. 2 Although the listing says there is a grill, it is marginal at best. On vacations, I do a lot of grilling and a grill is important to me. The first few nights we had a very old Weber with rusted out grates but it was serviceable. There is also a non-functioning gas grill and a smoker. Unfortunately, the Weber disappeared at some point and the grill left was one of a very poor design. Barely usable. 3 We did find bicycles with the house but they were in very poor repair. We used the club bicycles and they were fine. The club also provides the hot tub, kayaks, pool etc. They are not at this cottage. Because this was a new rental, there were a few kinks in the process. Although the owner was very available by phone and offered excellent advice about getting to the island, groceries, arrangements for luggage and so forth, we could have used a little better orientation once we got to the island. I feel we fell between the cracks. No problem for us but we have traveled extensively and are used to making our own way. None of these problems were deal breakers and the cottage is cute and renovated. Very comfortable overall but it did not have any internet, (we knew this) and the kitchen looked well equipt until we started to cook in it. It obviously not been used much for actual food prep. And like most of the homes on the island, their is no ocean view. The vegetation is very thick and natural, so mostly what you see from this home is that. That contributes to the lack of sun at the property also. You need to go to the beach to get sun. I just noticed something else; the listing is a two bedroom, not a three like the avatar on this review page states.
