Was happy to be able to visit again!

In 2013 I had the pleasure of renting this cottage for 7 months. I used it as my summer weekend getaway since I only live a little over an hour away. It was "love at first sight" when Nancy first showed me the property. It is so artsy, but also comfy and welcoming. It is next to impossible to find something of this quality in this vicinity (I searched quite awhile). I really did feel so at home and like it was "mine". As others have stated, there is every appliance and utensil you could possibly need. The apartment size refrigerator is perfect, and I didn't miss having an actual cooktop stove/oven. There are so many good and unique places to dine out very close by. And with a grocery store near also, you needn't worry about stocking up. I loved the fact that Nokomis Beach is only a few minutes away and also enjoyed bike riding on the Legacy Trail very close by. Its so easy to get to the beach quickly to watch the sun set. I loved the privacy on the back deck, along with the umbrella and table. I didn't spend a lot of time on the Secret Garden deck. Mosquitos were a little pesky the few times I tried, or it was just too humid out for me. There was a pileated woodpecker who would admire his reflection in my car window a few times, who pecked furiously. He was easy enough to shoo away. I would also suggest not parking directly under the enormous pine tree when its really warm. Sap WILL drop down! (only a drop or two from time to time) As a single lady, I felt very safe here. I also prudently kept the door locked when I wasn't outdoors. I would highly recommend staying here and hope you love it just as I did!

A Cottage Gem

My wife and I spent three weeks at Casa Nokomis. Until we actually saw the cottage, I was apprehensive. It was reasonably priced, we didn't need to rent for a full month, the description sounded wonderful, and the photos were enticing. It sounded like it might be too good to be true (like the apartment we rented a few years earlier in Longboat Key - that apartment sounded wonderful, but turned out to be, at best, tacky and a little short of comfortable). The reality relieved my apprehensions - Casa Nokomis was cozy, charming, pretty, clean, well kept, very comfortable, and stocked with everything we could want. The garden was beautiful, with palm trees and a tree our host called an orchid tree, which was just what it looked like - a tree covered with beautiful orchid-like blooms. The location was great - quiet, with no traffic noise, and between two bays (you couldn't see them from the cottage, but they were within a ten minute walk). There is a great seafood restaurant, a natural foods restaurant, and an American-Indonesian-eclectic cafe within easy walking distance. There are many more good restaurants within a ten minute drive, and the City of Venice with its enjoyable business district is about a five minute drive. We never did find a good Chinese restaurant or Jewish Deli nearby, but both do exist in Sarasota, about 20 minutes away. Basic shops - pharmacies, Publix Supermarket, hardware store, post office, dry cleaners, etc. are within three miles. My wife and I have vacationed in Florida, on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, for about the last ten years. Casa Nokomis is the best place we've ever stayed in. We hope to come back in 2015.
