Perfect beach getaway!

5 of 5
Our family of four (2 adults/2 children) absolutely loved our 1 week stay at the Sandollar. The exterior of the entire house is beautiful, nicely painted yellow with white trim. The actual studio has a spacious private gated entry with a garden, lounge chairs and gas grill, which we used. The private entry opens to beautiful wood stairs going up to the wide open studio, which is much larger than any hotel room you could book. The floors are hard wood and the kitchen area is beautiful with black and stainless steel appliances (3-door fridge/freezer, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker). The bathroom was also newly remodeled with beautiful touches. There are two closet areas, one holding the stacked washer/dryer and extra hanging space (there was also a hamper!). The other closet is quite large and fit everything we brought, including our suitcases. There were also plenty of drawers to hold more clothes. The futon was comfortable as a couch and queen bed, and the daybed was comfortable as a king sized bed! The linens were complimentary to the decor of the room, with lots of pillows, making it quite cozy. The private a/c unit was BRAND NEW and worked perfectly! The huge flat screen Sony HDTV was awesome and there were many channels to choose from, including On Demand! But the BEST part was the LOCATION! It was 4 houses from the beach! We literally kept our cart of beach gear on our patio and rolled it down the street 3 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY to the beach, a beach unlike any other beach we've seen (and we live in Fort Lauderdale)! The sand was powdery white at first, then flat and smooth toward the shore. There were joggers, bikers, surfers, fishermen, etc. But the unusual part was the little "lagoon" that appeared every day, shallow enough for the kids and for us to put our beach chairs directly in the water. It was filled with mini marine life and kept the kids busy for HOURS without the stress of them running into the actual ocean just feet away! This private beach was scarce of crowds, and the people we did meet (all locals) were extremely friendly and loved living in this area. The surrounding area had great restaurants (private and chains), conveniently located grocery stores and Super Stores (Target/Walmart), banks, pharmacies, and other entertainment (movies, a water park, etc.). Jim and Patti were wonderful hosts and were available to meet our every need. We plan to stay again, and are happy to spread the word!
